On the other hand, NBCSN, Golf Channel, MLB Network, NFL Network, and Fox Soccer all saw increases in year-to-year viewership.

Because these stations all show actual highlights.. Plus I don't have to sit and listen to Stephen A debate Skip about Lebron's headband or hear Herm give pep talks to tony romo on those stations either.

Honestly I get better news and debate here, and this covers so many more topics.

When Fox Sports 1 launches on the August 17th, I am definitely giving it a try. ESPN is full of useless garbage during the football offseason. If you're not an NBA fan like I'm not, you'll know why I can't watch ESPN from February-June. The only thing I watch on ESPN besides live events sans the NBA is the 30 for 30 documentaries. ESPN relies too much on what I call "Argument or Pissing Contest" television.

I'm starting to feel the same way about the NFL Network. They have former ESPN execs running that channel and this is why we see 12 showings of NFL Total Access a day, 5 showings of The Top 10 (Insert here), and 7 showings of The Top 100 players of 2013. They killed NFL Films even before Steve Sabol got cancer because the former ESPN CEO who heads NFLN now, didn't want to move his family from L.A. to New Jersey where they opened a brand new facility for NFL Films the year before the channel launched and built a floor specifically for NFLN. That facility in Mount Laurel, NJ is now sitting half empty and 1/3rd of the staff has been laid off because NFLN execs feel that NFL Films is "dinosaur television".

Good, I'm glad people are finally starting to pull away. FS1, sadly, may not be much better. Hell, Crowd Goes Wild is hosted by Regis (cringe) with celebrity guest stars (cringe) and they "put their unique spin on the biggest stories from the worlds of sports, entertainment and beyond"

Now with the ESPN website going to Facebook for comments gives me another reason not to follow the ESPN brand...

I kinda liked going to the college football and NASCAR sections with the story and then comments afterwards. I don't do facebook... now only go to the website for fantasy league.

ESPN is basically two entities: the sports dept in Bristol & the suits in N.Y. And it is the suits who run ESPN, & they only care bout one thing: the bottom line, ratings. It's no coincidence that when some of their best talent has left to go another network, most say that they are sick & tired of being forced to do as the suits demand vs what they know sports fans want to see & hear. The suits figure that Tiger, the Lakers, Yankees, Boston, the Heat, etc. will draw the biggest ratings & could care less that the average sports fans tires of the over saturation, and tires fast.
