I still watch College Game Day. And yes, I watch a lot of the smaller bowl games at the end of the year. Primetime games during the year are a given.
I've always been more of a fan of the NFL though. So basically, I only watch MNF. I don't mind their coverage but most of the games are shitty matchups.
Sunday Night Football is the king on NBC.

I have to say the reason why is this in a nutshell. Granted, I was listening to Mike and Mike this morning, but with the MLB trade deadline nearing, young players taking over the sport, and a full night of games previously discussed as well as NFL Training Camps opening up around the country, what are Mike and Mike talking about?
Aaron Hernandez. And not just Aaron Hernandez. They were dissecting how Belichick handled his press conference yesterday as it pertained to the Hernandez situation. If it's not New York, Boston or big market West Coast-centric ESPN gives no fricks.
The reason league-specific channels like NFL Network and MLB Network have climbing ratings is because they feature actual sports content and don't continue to be the Entertainment Weekly or A Current Affair of the sports world that ESPN has become.

Sportscenter has become a hotbed for entry level broadcast talent and it's pretty obvious that an above average knowledge/passion for the sports being covered is no longer a requirement for these people. They can't touch the analysis available on mlb/nfl/NBA networks...or even dedicated pre and post game shows available on networks like TNT or fox where sports are not their primary programming.
And it's not just sportscenter...it's especially bad for college sports programming...Dari Nowkah on college football live is a prime example, the guy knows nothing about what he's covering.

I haven't watched ESPN for non-live sports in about 6 months.
I can't stand ESPN anymore. It's more opinions and less actual sports news.

I think ESPN wanted to take the direction to become more relevant as a news station and broaden their audience. I'm not sure they meant to take it to the point where they would start alienating even their biggest supporters over the years, but I feel like that is exactly what has happened.
What I want to know is what kind of people are actually eager to hear what Tom Brady, Bill Bellicheck, other athletes think about the Hernandez situation. Who is this news catered towards? Other than Patriots fans?

Same with arod...go to espn.com once every hour, there will be a new story on the subject every time you do. From arods pov or the Yankees or the doctors or some writer. Is it that big of a deal hat happens to him? He hasn't done anything in years.

Yep. Gameday and live sports are all I really watch it for anymore. I flipped over to SportsCenter last night to see what they would have about Hudson's injury, and was reminded they do that annoying list of upcoming topics on the left side. They spent about 8 minutes on one topic, and it wasn't even interesting. Logged onto TD mobile from the phone and found what I was looking for in under a minute.

I steer clear of ESPN these days. I'll watch them only for live sports and CFB. Otherwise I turn it straight to MLB, NFL, and NBA Networks depending on the season.
Now I do use ESPN.com a lot for online usage.

Fox's College Football broadcasts were as good as ABC/ESPNs. They were Pac 12 and Big 12, but the people calling the games were as good or better than most of the booths for ESPN/ABC games.

The obvious answer is to increase the Tebow coverage. Lack of Tebow coverage lately = lower ratings.
