Sports Conspiracies That Are Likely True

Is there any doubt that the NFL (or someone) intentionally rigged the Saints Rams NFC Champ Game?? In a league that throws DPI like candy, it’s very odd how the easiest call of all time was missed. Not only that but all 3 officials involved in the play live in the LA area.
The other one is the the NBA rigging Game 6 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals between Lakers and Kings. How can anyone not think this game was not rigged?

When you catch a man in bed with your wife do you believe her when she says she’s not cheating?

If the Saints run the ball, make the Rams burn a timeout, and kick a FG, they likely win in regulation.

That literally did NOT happen.

Not that odd when you include the missed facemask on Goff bear the end zone. If it was rigged that would have surely been called.

There's sooooooooo much evidence that this was at least manipulated.

Or the easiest call of all time is made and Saints win.

Anywhere there is money and a lack of transparency and/or accountability, there will be conspiracy.
I think it is probable, though not confirmed, that the non-call was intentional and meant to influence the outcome of the game.
I think much more likely is that New Orleans was offered up as a sacrificial lamb for Bounty Gate. They were picked to be punished publicly for activity all teams engaged in in order to create the appearance that the league was doing something to combat CTE while trying to head-off class action lawsuits. Because New Orleans didn’t take their punishment lying down, but instead chose to contest the findings and publicly criticize the commissioner, the NFL made them a target.
I think sports leagues do use what power they have to attempt to influence events to favor big market teams with fan bases that are engaged and watch their team play. It would be foolish for them not to try and make the most visible franchises relevant somehow to maximize ratings.

If your going to complain about the refs game 6 of Lakers/Kings, you must also look at game 5 which the refs called the opposite. The only conspiracy is made up theories.

Yes. Even though the Rams needed some juice, they’ll never be a big draw in L.A. I can’t imagine the NFL cheating to actively prevent a Brees/Brady Super Bowl matchup. Ain’t buying it. I think the moment was just too big for that ref. He shite his pants and froze. Devastating loss that most of us will never really get over, but no conspiracy.
What’s that saying: “Never attribute grand conspiracy to something when simple incompetence will suffice”? Something like that.

The only NFL game I've ever watched and truly felt that there was some frickery going on with the officiating was the Seahawks/Steelers Super Bowl. That game felt rigged to get Bettis a Super Bowl in his final game, which happened to be played in his hometown.
2006 NBA Finals always seemed dirty to me as well.

Here is mine:
Zion Williamson had Covid.
The leaves the bubble for unspecified family reasons.
He is gone for like 12 days and they they change the quarantine time to 4 days. So he’s gone about 16 days total. Right around 2 weeks.
Comes back and is out of shape and breathing heavy. Kinda crazy to lose that much cardio in just 12 days.
Why cover it up?
Don’t want Zion to sit out and don’t want to pop the bubble.

The Bama Bridge schedule (designed by a Bama grad) which gave the gumps a cakewalk schedule while simultaneously fricking LSU.
2012
- Alabama played Missouri and Tennessee
- LSU played South Carolina and Florida
2013
- Alabama played Kentucky and Tennessee
- LSU played Georgia and Florida
The conspiracy theory is that it was done intentionally. Who knows. It certainly wasn’t “balanced.”
