I want to say it comes down to Buss, Steinbrenner, and Rickey but I feel like Kraft has been a pretty amazing owner

For football, yes.
But he's also a terrible owner in MLS.

Steinbrenner is the first that comes to mind.

The Yankees have had an incredible combination of monetary support (obviously), winning, and organizational structure stability.

Plus, I can't even remember the last time they've had a legitimate non-baseball problem.

Probably Jerry Buss. He was great in multiple eras with different groups of players, coaches and GM's.

Steinbrenner was too much of a media hog for me.

Art Rooney, Rickey, Kraft and Al Davis would round out my top five. Al Davis fell off hard at the end, but was a legend for 30 years.

I’m biased but Les Alexander was awesome

One that won’t get a ton of mention but has been very good recently is the Brewers owner (Mark Attanasio). They haven’t been afraid to tear it down when it’s not working, but he’s also spent a good amount by small market MLB standards when they’ve had a contender.

I feel like they’ve struck a great balance of spending when the time is right when you see a lot of small market MLB owners sit on their hands and claim poverty.

The only real beef is that the rockets probably should have tanked after Yao/t-Mac but he didn’t want to. Other than that, he was fantastic.

Eddie diBartolo was quite popular with fans and players. Look what happened to the 49ers with his sister and idiot husband and son running the team.
