I didnt it watch the game, but he locked CLEARLY out to me on the replays that I have seen. Close, but clearly out

Lol who cares? A penn state loss is good for humanity

I just don't understand why we have replay if the burden of proof to overturn a call on the field is the OJ standard.
The standard is way beyond reasonable doubt, way beyond preponderance of the evidence and even beyond clear and convincing.
The extreme weight given the bang bang play on the field is perpexing.

Unless I’m mistaken, the ball can touch the ground and the runner not be down. In this pic, the ball has not yet touched the OOB line. It’s on the ground in the field of play, but the player isn’t down yet. They need to advance to the point the ball touches OOB and see where it is in relation to the end zone.

It looked to be short but not enough to overturn.
I felt bad for the ref there. Almost an impossible call.

It’s officially a touchdown. And will always be a touchdown. Penn St losing makes it that much sweeter!

No, the touchdown was the play before. This was a two point conversion.

Where is a punt marked OOB?
Are you really comparing a ball that is not in the possession of any player, to this call? Really?
Why is a fumble not ruled down when the ball first hits the ground?
How can a returner pick up the ball from the ground, and not be ruled down?
How does a holder place the ball on the ground, and not instantly stop the play?
How is a center even allowed to snap the ball?
The ball touching the ground doesnt down the ball, the player possessing the ball does

A player is down only when a part of his body other than a hand or a foot touches
The tip of the football penetrated the white line before the tail of the football hit the line marker. Once any part of the ball touches the line, its a score. Just like if a guy just steps on the boundary line by a shoe lace, its blown dead. You dont ever have to cross the entire line

That doesn't address him being out of bounds.
You can't push the ball forward once it's on the ground just because your knee isn't on the ground.

The ball clearly hits out of bounds before hitting the pylon.
Why is everyone harping on the pylon? As soon as it touches/cross the smallest part of the white line, the play is over. He doesn’t have to touch the pylon. He doesn’t have to make it into the red. Just cross/touch the white in any way and it’s a touchdown. The pic someone posted on page 1 seems to clearly show the ball past the goal line.

Because there's no evidence the ball ever crossed or touched the line before hitting the ground and normal people agree that the ref made his decision solely on the pylon.

I mean this won't ruin Penn State's season because obviously they're going to lose many more but that was not a score and their fans have a real beef.
Their beef needs to be with their own team scoring and giving the ball ball back to IU with enough time to tie it up.
Never put the game in the hands of the refs. PSU had the game won and decided to gift OT to IU.

Yeah from the little I saw last night it seemed whatever they called on the field should stand. Whats the issue?

Help me out. Why does it matter if the ball is on the ground before it hits the pylon?

It doesn't unless part of the ball touched the ground OOB before any portion of the ball crossed the goal line.

the bigger issue is Penn State scoring that last TD. The coaches MUST TELL THE PLAYERS to NOT score a TD, even if the field is wide open. Getting a first down is fine, but DO NOT SCORE. It's the ONLY way Indiana could have a chance.
Horrible coaching by Franklin there.
