Months of discord centering on elements of treatment, rehabilitation and timetables for return from a right quadriceps injury have had a chilling impact on San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard's relationship with the franchise and coaching staff, league sources told ESPN.

Under president and coach Gregg Popovich and general manager RC Buford, the Spurs have a two decades-long history of strong relationships with star players, but multiple sources describe Leonard and his camp as "distant" and "disconnected" from the organization

Take two by espn on this subject. They’ve refined it from the Brady/Patriots story.

When it comes to incredibly successful teams like the Spurs and Pats, it's hard for me to believe there's bad shite going on.

If there is, how do garbage teams like the Browns and Kings even exist?

This usually seems like fake news. I very well could be wrong.

Iyrc They also shot down the Aldridge reports last year when Jackie reported them. We have since found them to be true.

I think Kawhi is disconnected from most of society

Maybe there is an inkling of truth to this. Injuries frustrate players, especially of this type where it is recurring and difficult to get over. But great franchises won’t let this type of crap become bigger than the team.

FWIW - I think this is just ESPN trying to get clicks again. I’m guessing this isn’t anything of concern.

Who is they, because loads of people believed it.

Guy leaves Portland to stay a superstar because Lillard took over, but gets second fiddle to kawhi.

But I mean an offseason of discussions seemed to have fixed things with Pop+Aldridge, so sounds to me like Kawhi wants to play and thinks he could and SA+Pop prefers he not until he's 100%. No point honestly, GS is gonna win it all again

San Antonio media and no it’s the opposite. Leonard don’t wanna play.

I don't think it's hard to believe. Great teams always have problems. It's just that through talent and top coaching, they can overcome issues that would have sidetracked other teams.

Michael Jordan punched Steve Kerr in the face in 1996. None of the Bulls starters liked each other and would go weeks without talking to each other beyond basketball.

LeBron and Kyrie didn't talk all playoffs last year.

Christian Laettner used to bully Bobby Hurley so frequently that Grant Hill and the coaching staff had to come in and routinely get him to stop being such a prick. To this day, Hurley looks uncomfortable when someone asks him a question that casually leads itself to him having to compliment the guy.

But Duke won back to back titles, the Bulls were a dynasty, and the Cavs were a great team.

They’ll be fine. Kawhi will be a lifetime Spur essentially and go down as another Spurs great in a succession of great franchise players

just went and read the article since I couldn't on my phone.

Yeah, this sounds like a Rose issue all over again. Spurs are starting to need him...4-6 in the last 10 games

ESPN just drums shite up because they need viewers/readers. They create a fake controversy just to get people to tune in to watch a discussion on the fake controversy...they created.

This is just like the Patriots bullshite they drummed up a few weeks back. 18 straight winning seasons; (Now) 8 Super Bowl appearances; 5 World's Championships (playing for 6) and the coach, owner, and QB who have been there for them ALL now all of a sudden hate each other?

ESPN is a dying network because of technological advances and the way we obtain information has changed. It can't survive just showing highlights. Now they are in the business of creating "sports news" rather than just reporting on it. Read the story if you'd like. But I wouldn't put much credibility into it.
