IN fairness, we ALL do that, she just said it out loud. When something happens to a stranger, basically all of us will just think that stinks then move on without our day never giving it another thought. Same thing happens to a friend or family member and it obviously hits different.

I also don't see anything wrong with her overall point in her comments there. I highly doubt if any poster's best friend fricked up like this, we'd all be like, "Oh well, frick him. Enjoy 9 years in prison." Sure, we'd acknowledge our friend fricking up royally, but we'd probably be pretty hurt to know your buddy is gonna be locked up for a decade. I know the hardcore Poli bros may respond and say, "Nah, I would say to hell with my best friend if he did that" but we all know that's complete bullshite.

lol yeah, I know, man, it shows how unbelievably narrow-minded she is.

And you and all of us aren't?

So you now are on record stating you care just as much when terrible shite happens to complete strangers as you do your closest loved one and friends? Sure thing, Jan.

Listen, man, I don't know what bit you in the arse today, but I'm not the one making these comments right here, Skylar Diggins is and what she said was narrow-minded, whether or not you believe it. Also, what I believe in and has absolutely nothing to do with what you or anyone else believes or wants to believe.

If Griner had ACTUALLY been getting a raw deal, people would be more sympathetic. No one feels sorry for someone having to deal with the consequences of their own actions.

TBH, she's not wrong about what she said there. Do people really care about some no name person being wrongfully held in some other country. Probably not. She's saying she gets a lot of people probably don't care what's going on with Griner but they do care because she's close to them, and she's not wrong about that.

The hilarious part of all of this is they actually had a moment of silence as if she died, when in reality she broke the law, was tried in a court of law, convicted of the crime, and then sentenced according to that country's sentencing guidelines. A lot of people in this country need to realize that every country around the world isn't going to have the same laws that we do, nor should they be expected to. Griner knew she was breaking the law, and she found out the hard way how Russians deal with breaking the law she did.

I get what you’re saying, but you don’t publicly call everyone else peons and irrelevant. That’s not going to win her (or Griner) any sympathy.

I don't know about you but when something bad happens to someone I know I don't go around telling people their loved ones are irrelevant and the only people that count are mine.

You're white knighting for someone who is openly telling you they don't give a frick about you

No shite, you're commenting on them like the rest of us. Again, what are you talking about?

I don't care if it's narrow minded, it's exactly what every single one of does. You can disagree with that, but it is 100% so.

Again, irrelevant and not sure what you're talking about.

We all care more about our friends and loves one and spend more time caring about that than completely strangers. That's the most obvious statement in the world. So you're expecting Skylar Diggins to care about strangers as much as her friends...so you can just take shots at her for something we all do?

I said nothing about how you or I are or aren't sympathetic about this, not sure how your reply really relates to what I said there.

My point still stands. When our friends royally frick up, we don't point and laugh at them like we do if/when a stranger did the same thing. It's weird that some are taking exception to a very obvious statement.

You're 100% correct, especially your last sentence.

It's not a good look. But as long as we're on the same page that the issue is saying it aloud and not the actual thought, because we ALL think the same. But the OP thinks she's narrow minded for thinking so, so logically he's stating he is equally narrow minded or he cares just as much when a stranger dies or something randomly happens as they do when it happens to a family member, which is absurd.

You think the exact same, you just don't say it out loud. That's the only difference.

She basically said they are upset because one of their close friends had something really bad happen to them. This doesn't sound much different from what I would expect someone to say in that situation.

Oh, is this where we pretend it hits you just as hard when you find at a random stranger died in a car crash in Iowa than if your best friend or Mother died in a car crash?

Cool, cool. Tell me more...

That's basically it, unless politics rule every thought you have.
