The Ohio St Coach has suggested that all NIL funds should be shared by the team. Sounds great in theory, but the big boys would really have to be extremely generous in nature.
So for every $1M, each of the 105 on the roster would net about $ 9,500. It would certainly prevent any inter-squad jealousy or issues & build team camaraderie, but not sure this will catch on anywhere. A pretty idealistic theory.
What say you ?

Force that on the high earners and we might make a few new Republicans

I think the NCAA should mandate it.

ETA: Take it one step further... it should be a shared pool amoung all NCAA student athletes.

It’s part of life, the fringe ST player doesn’t make much in the NFL either.

The smart thing to do would sell a ton of team signed merch and have team signings that they split amounts all the players.

Lol. Do NFL players share THEIR money? That thing called TEAM is long gone. The divas will be flashing their cash at a university near you real soon.

Democrat 101...spread the wealth around.

In today's society, You can Bet it won't be long before the lower tiered sports start pushing for this...esp the women's sports...

We could make thousands of new Republicans!

But that would probably be the best way to put the guardrails on this thing. 50% of their earnings go to them, the other 50% go to the pool. Something like that.

Think of it like a law practice where the lawyers pool their earnings and you get a larger piece of the pie based on tenure/title. It would be similar, but you just keep 50%.

It’s taxable income just like everything else.

Active players don’t share with teammates.

It could very well get to this in a few years when the race card and privilege thing is thrown around. For every 1 Bryce Young, I think you'll have 3 Olivia Dunne's where the latter has the Covergirl/Maybeline deals, the monetized social platforms, etc.

They'll say the snow bunnies have an inherent advantage with their pretty hair and skin. That's coming, it'll just take a couple of years for the numbers to bear witness.

I could understand some percentage of the NIL go into a shared fund, under 50%, but the majority should go to the player.

I bet the starting QB getting enough NIL money will definitely take them out for meals or buy them all something for their hard work
At least NIL gives the star QB or RB enough money to take some of his teammates out for a nice meal to show their appreciation
If Bryce Young is making that kind of money maybe he takes his teammates out to eat during the season and picks up the bill
