re: Semi-Daily MLB Thread
Yankees and Marlins are the only teams with 1 loss right now, San Diego is the best team to watch

I’m just expecting the whole season will be shutdown by Monday

Me too honestly, I think they will try shutting down a week and then restarting again with more double headers of the 7 inning style though

Start the countdown timer on Trout. He's gonna have a newborn at home. I'm pretty certain he's going to opt out which becomes a PR crisis for MLB. If Trout opts out, it's over. MLB will cancel the entire season before they publicly wear the egg on their face of having the best player in the game walk away from the season.

Market Yelich, Bellinger, Acuna, Bregman, Pearson, Vlad Jr, etc instead of Trout and push it hard about the kids playing

Here’s what Passan said on Twitter

quote:

All in all: If Cards’ spread is contained, the season almost certainly will continue. If it worsens, there is concern. As it stands, Marlins could play Baltimore (probably Wednesday with weather expected Tuesday) and Phils should return next week, too. St. Louis is the question.

Part of a longer thread, he also mentioned that the Phillies last two positive tests are thought to have been false positives

Same thing with Juan Soto on the rapid test, however, the District of Columbia will not clear him to return despite 10 straight negative test including a swab

I just can't see it going on without Trout. If he opts out, it's a devastating blow to the public image of MLB and I think it sets off a chain reaction of other opt outs. Once Trout goes, there's no more pressure on other star players to continue.

re: Semi-Daily MLB Thread
I think 70% of the non-baseball people have no clue who Trout is. I mean if the Angels were competitive maybe but they suck already.

MLB has a ton of talented players to promote if they wanted. Trout is the best player in the game but they can continue without h just as well. frick make Harper the face of the game, more people know him

re: Semi-Daily MLB Thread
Yea, people aren’t just going to opt out en masse because Mike Trout does it. The season might not get finished but Mike Trout opting out isn’t going to kill the season

re: Semi-Daily MLB Thread
It’s been funny seeing so many people talk shite about how MLB did things when this I pretty much entirely on the players. Didn’t want a bubble, don’t follow rules, etc...

Manfred is a retard, but he won’t be to blame when the season flops.

re: Semi-Daily MLB Thread
No way could MLB do a bubble, you have a 30 man squad and another 60 players training to be called up. 90 players per team plus coaches for all?

Plus where could they play? Arizona only has 1 indoor stadium and it's been 100+ degrees so teams aren't going to want to play outside. Florida has a few more indoor stadiums but not enough outside total stadiums outside of Spring Training sites

He’s not free from blame here. The MLB seemingly had zero plan for what to do when some positive tests showed up.

which is why you don't have one bubble, but multiple different bubble sites to spread the load

New York, DC/Baltimore, Bay Area, SoCal. Admittedly my math could be wrong.. throw in south Florida

Two/three games per day in two ballparks in each location.
