It's always easy to say this well after it has occurred and the players have played for a while.

But sometimes, there are head scratching selections for sure.

Has OP come up with a reason for why Burrow has a 113 passed rating to Herbert's 100?

This is going to be a fun bump for me in like 2-3 weeks.

Are you under the impression that throwing the ball less wouldn’t affect the rate at all? Almost like using the running game and being conservative help prevent sacks.

Crazy, I know.

But could the higher rating be due to the less attempts and shorter yards/att and yards/completion?

The formula for Qb Rating weighs completion percentage the most then int% then td% and then ypa.

It’s calculated the inverse of how it should be calculated.

However, it does punish QBs for rushing for yards and tds. That’s why guys like Cunningham, Young, Jackson, and Newton have had lower passer ratings that don’t really accurate reflect their performances.

That’s why most people have reverted to calling it passer rating because it really doesn’t give the full picture of how effective a QB is.

First of all, Burrow came into an objectively worse roster and organization.

And secondly, how you're making that drastic of a declaration after week 4 is beside me.

Herbert:
68.9%, 1,178 yards, 9 TDs, 3 INTs, 7.5 YPA, 100.1 Rtg, 59.9 QBR

Burrow:
72.9%, 989 yards, 9 TDs, 4 INTs, 9.2 YPA, 113.8 Rtg, 53.8 QBR

From a performance and results standpoint, I don't see how one could say that the Chargers are a better organization than Cincy.

3 seasons prior to drafting Herbert the Chargers were 26-22 and 3 seasons prior to drafting Burrow the Bengals were 15-33.

The Chargers not only went to the playoffs in 2018, two years prior to Herbert, but they won a playoff game. The Bengals haven't been to a playoff game since 2015 and haven't won one since 1990.

I’m going to ignore your first point because we all know OBJECTIVELY that it is FACTUALLY inaccurate, but there is a reason why LSU fans only want to compare the last 4 games instead of the career stats thus far. Hint: Herbert is clearly better.

And 5?

10?

20?

30?

The Bengals tanked 2019. The Chargers didn’t.

Nah Burrow doing fine

Chicago about to implode over Justin Fields being the bum everyone knew he was, minus SJWs that refused to believe what they could see

He didn't look like a top5 pick, especially if you watched oregon games. Kind of shows how mediocre the nfl is.

Win % and Post Season

quote:

3 years

Chargers: 54.17%, 1 playoff appearance, 1 playoff win
Bengals: 31.25%, no playoff appearances, no playoff wins

quote:

And 5?

Chargers: 43.75%, 2 playoff appearances, 1 playoff win
Bengals: 41.25%, 1 playoff appearance, no playoff wins

quote:

10?

Chargers: 48.13%, 4 playoff appearances, 2 playoff wins
Bengals: 48.13%, 5 playoff appearances, no playoff wins

This is the only period the Bengals could be considered about the same. However, far more players and coaches leftover from the 5 year period (and even more from 3 year period)

quote:

20?

Chargers: 50.63%, 7 playoff appearances, 5 playoff wins
Bengals: 45.31%, 7 playoff appearances, no playoff wins

quote:

30?

Chargers: 49.17%, 10 playoff appearances, 8 playoff wins
Bengals: 41.04%, 8 playoff appearances, 1 playoff win

ETA:

Had to go back to 30 years prior to the Herbert/Burrow draft to find our first Cincinnati playoff win

Also in the last 30 years, the Bengals have had players earn 10 total All-Pro seasons. The Chargers have 26.

It's honestly ridiculous this is a hill people are willing to die on, I can keep going

Lol what? He’s 1-1 as a starter and salted away their other win.
