Yeah, boo was solid in 08, so was Kim. But neither deserved to be on the team, especially Kim after the injury. The new best buds on tour are bubba and rickie, I wouldn't be surprised if that factored in a little bit too

what's his overall record? I know he's 2nd all-time with 13 Ryder Cup matches lost.

To be honest, I don't know who the best fit for this team would be, but I bet Pavin had more than 12 people on his list. However, I do know that mystery person would not be bringing Tiger's baggage to the team.

And since everyone wanted a link, can I get a link to Tiger talking up the Ryder Cup this year like he really wants it? Aside from his passiveness, I think his play has done the talking.

I'm not saying I wouldn't pick him, but let's be honest. His Ryder Cup record is average to below average.

I never said one good weekend means "he's back".....the fact that he has played his way into the next playoff tournament each of the past three weeks shows that he is IN FACT playing better....

No Anthony Kim

His youth and energy is perfect for the Ryder Cup. He dominated last time.

ETA: didn't realize he is coming off an injury.

10-13-2 in Ryder Cups
3-1-1 in singles

5-0 in last year's President's Cup, the first year he was paired with Strick and they dominated. You'll see that pairing again.

Hunter Mahan is the only player with a winning record on our team. 2-0-3, all from 2008

i would definately expect to see Stricker paired with Tiger....they were money in the president's cup last year.....also, since Bubba and Rickie are such good friends, I'm sure that influenced Pavin's picks and you can expect to see them together as well.....

I just want to see Tiger and Mcilroy face each other in singles and Tiger to take him out Ames-style. Basically ended Ames career as a top player.

I'm trying to find the cup record stats, where can I? I've tried googling it various ways and wiki'ing it with no success. Because this is nice...

but the team play record(s) ESPN showed this morning were ugly. However, this could easily have been more the teammates and not Woods. Again, I haven't been able to find a good site with the numbers.

Gracious

Not as bad as I recalled, but not good either.

Foursomes 3-6-1
Fourballs 4-6-0

Probably difficult at this point, but is it possible to see the scores of Tiger vs. Teammate. Like I said, I seem to recall Tiger playing well, but his teammates not. I could be completely wrong though.

the problem with just looking at his ryder cup record is the fact that we lost most of those ryder cups. look at the other players' records. mickelson is 10-14-6, furyk is 8-13-3, love is 9-12-5, toms is 4-6-2, cink is 4-7-4, leonard is 2-4-6. most of the experienced americans have terrible records.

bottom line is he is a hell of a match play guy. his record as a professional in match play as a single is like 39-9. not to mention he won 6 usga titles in match play.

i like our chances

The tougher the course, the better chance the U.S. has of winning. But, the cup is being played on a golf course that, when they held a European Tour event there, the winner shot 22 under.

And, the course is in Northern England and it's gonna be cold (for golf) there in October. Another advantage for Europe.

IMO the U.S. team is going to get smoked.

now that tiger's been picked, a "controversial" question might now become should he sit out a match? i am not going to look it up, but in how many Ryder or President cups have Tiger sat out a match? Unless he plays a lot better between now and his initial cup match, I would not think he deserves to play in every match.
