Is there a more impossible feat than gaining yards on any shotgun running play besides Read Option?
Buck Sweep and Counter might as well be named "5 yard loss left" and "5 yard loss right"

Well Clyde Edwards Helaire averaged 6.6 ypc for a total of 1867 yards running solely out of the shotgun. So I would say you’re pretty wrong

Bowden did well in as well. But you have to have a pretty incredible athlete back there (which both are) in order to pull it off consistently.

I've run power out of the shotgun and it has worked before. But yeah running up the middle out of shotgun does nothing.

Quick Base is the answer baw

I could run the HB draw well at times, either went for no gain or 20 yards. I remember in the older games like NCAA 06 I could put my fastest WR at QB and cheese the game with speed option.

quick base and HB dive are good. If you know how to do it, read option in NCAA 14 is the best play in the history of sports video games. may not get a TD every play, but it's a guaranteed 6+ yards every time.

Coach Duggs has mastered it. Look for him to run it a lot at USC.

Florida playbook back in NCAA 11 had a run play that was a guaranteed touchdown just about every time with a speedback. Can't remember if it was out of the shotgun or pistol.

Yeah if you got the timing down and know how to read the DE you could dick any defense with regularity. It was almost unfair

Numbers in the box and above average skill is all you need to be successful running out of the gun. If you have 7 or more box defenders check to a pass.

We will see how well coach Duggs does without a stud like cam banks at running back. Lotta rumblings that Duggs is a fraud

Only useful to use a few times to bait the CPU into getting burned on a deep play action

If you have the personnel and you're a decent playcaller you can run buck sweep and stretch of out of the shotgun pretty effectively
