Mac Jones
Trey Lance
Justin Fields
Zach Wilson
Trevor Lawrence

Fields - did the best stat wise but really didn't start moving the ball until the 3/4s were in.

Lance - had a great throw but had a 37% completion percentage and should have been intercepted multiple times. 37% on 5-14 passing for 128 yards, 80 of which came on one play.

Mac - looked like he had great command of the offense, calling out the defense, changing alignment, etc. No interceptions but also no TDs. 68.4% on 13-19 passing for 87 yards.

Trevor - respectable outing but at times looked slow in his throws and processing. 66.7% on 6-9 passing for 71 yards.

Wilson - started slow but came on strong. With an 86.6 passer rating on 6-9 passing for 63 yards. Like Mac Jones he didn't find the endzone.

They all looked pretty good. Doesn’t really mean much but is better than the alternative

Hard to really tell what’s what when it’s preseason.

There no game planning by the defense for any of these guys. I don't know how you take anything away from their games.

Mac is going to be a good one and I hate saying that. The touch he has on the ball is filthy. He was putting them in the bread basket on long throws against the Skins.

I thought they looked fun. I'm hoping some of them turn into great players because that skillset makes for a better product. Even Jordan Love looked pretty good.

The quality of players on the field also makes comparisons difficult. One guy might be playing with a unit full of starters going against a defense comprised of players fighting for a roster spot.

Another might take snaps with the second team offense against a bunch of defensive starters.

he was also playing with 3/4s against 1/2s for the first few drives.

Whoever watched all 5 of their preseason games, major props for that level of Fandom.

Just ready for some football.

Also forgot about Love. Didn't catch his game.

This could turn out to be one hell of a draft for qbs. Could rank up there with the best draft qb class.

Joe Burrow’s first NFL start:
23/36, 193 yards, 0 TDs, 1 INT

Dink and dunk QB, right?

Jones is probably the one most ready, right now. However, I think the ceiling on his potential is lower than most of the others. The question is will all/any of those other guys reach it?

I'd rather have a "7" player who can play versus a POTENTIAL "9-10" who can never put it together.

In the end though NO rookie QB can be fairly graded on their first preseason game.

So it would seem. How is that relevant?

One is about 6.7 yards per catch
The other was 8.4

Mac’s first throw was ruled an incompletion but had it been reviewed would have been a catch. Also had a badly dropped ball on deep throw for a touchdown.

Those 2 would have improved the ypc, but either way, how is it a bad thing to take what the defense gives you if it continues to move your team down the field?

Not a bad thing. Perfectly fine first game.
But 68% completion percentage with a 6.7 ypc is nothing to get excited about.

But can one get excited about the throws he made?

Threw some good screens. That's something veterans can't do sometimes. Like his relationship with the RBs. The rollout in the end zone was beautiful.

That INT was awful though. He's a work in progress.

Nobody can be judged by what they did in the 1st preseason game. They are going up against at best 2nd reamers and mostly 3rd teamers/fringe players, most who will be cut w/in a couple of weeks.
