So from IRL/CART split that ruined the sport to this. It has been a strange quarter of century for open wheel racing. That split allowed NASCAR to take over as America's premier racing form.

I think it's better than turning it over to some know-it-all venture capitalist firm that only cares about turning a profit. Could have been sold to way worse people.

That being said, still pretty damn shocking.

That's probably good news

Should Penske be allowed to keep his Indy Car teams?

Yes. I don't worry at all about home cooking for his team.

It's not uncommon for a series owner to field a team in the series as well, at least in short track racing.

I knew my hard work would pay off. I spent all week transition the contents of that file to a nice accordion style file

Good.

Can’t see Penske making anything worse than it is now.

The Captain is long overdue for a promotion. Good news for the sport, IMO.

I would say this is about as good of a person/company to take over IMS/Indycar. Penske has resources and connections Hullman and Co. could only dream of. I hope they keep Jay Frye and the rest of the team on board. They really helped to get the ship righted over the last 5 years.

Tony George is garbage that ruined open wheel racing in the US.
Penske is a great person to own the speedway and the series.

Where would they run? NASCAR owns half the tracks that would be desirable, and would probably put huge pressure on Bruton Smith to not hold races at his tracks. So unless you want a "strictly stock"/pony car version of IMSA I don't see that happening.

I am also curious if Roger will hold on to the track for any length of time. Roger owned California (Auto Club) and Michigan for a while, but ended up selling both to ISC/NASCAR in the late 90s.

It seems to be working for F1.

I do think this is a good move by Indy/Penske though.

I think Penske is the right guy for the job considering how long he's been in the sport. Hopefully he can bring in more sponsors and another engine manufacture wouldn't hurt either.
