Didn't he lead the NBA in rebounds and finish top 5 in blocks all while being injured last year?
His prime isn't measured by how well he stacks up against other players in the league, it's how he compares to himself.

i'll give howard a pass for last year b/c of (1) injury and (2) a combustible situation on the lakers

The year before that he played in 54 games. He hasn't played a whole season since 2009.

I don't understand that comment. He's played as many games as LBJ last season, and 78 in 10-11. He had one year where missed 20 games.
I just think pre LAL Howard comes to Miami, and Orlando Howard was the only C in the league who even reminded you of one from the 90s

What evidence do we have to suggest that the old, dominant Dwight is ever coming back?
Seriously, he hasn't looked like that guy in quite some time.

Shaq peaked his 7th year.
Hakeem his 10th year.
Ewing his 5th year ( )
Dwight's in his 9th soo

What makes you think the old Dwight left? He still was at the top or near the top in most statistical categories.
I think right now it is hip hop and to the beat to say he sucks. The MSB is full of fad followers.

THIS.. Often injured and a cancer= A BAD teammate. I would NOT spend THAT kind of money a player like that....

He was nowhere near the top of the statistical peak for his own career. Did you read the article posted from the last page?
I'm not saying he sucks by any means, but Houston isn't getting the guy that took that Orlando team to the Finals. It's just not happening.

Often injured? Can someone please look up how many games Dwight has missed in his career?

you guys also forget dwight hasn't been happy in some time. He's wanted out of orlando for so long, and he never wanted to play with kobe to even begin with. HE CHOSE HOUSTON, his heart is in it, you're underestimating what a change of scenery does to some people.
Look at Chris Davis on the orioles, he wasn't happy being called up and down, he didn't really have a position in texas and gets dealt to baltimore, boom on pace for 60 home runs while leading the league.
Dwight is a special talent, if he's healthy and happy, he will motivated and playing alongside another great pick and roll player like he has never had in his career, he will put up career numbers. Alot of people are underestimating stuff like the amount of fouls him and harden draw, the rockets will be in the bonus all game long. This is a tremendous signing and with wade and bosh regressing, puts Houston top the league with Oklahoma City,Indiana,Miami, New Jersey,San Antonio in the talk for title contenders.
Don't even get me started on Free Agent 2014 class and the idea they might wanna play with Dwight and James Harden, you have 2 big ones: Lebron or Carmelo.

I'm just thinking Houston fans are setting their standards way too high and will be disappointed.
