Uh the Knicks want melo gone just as bad as he wants to be gone. They are ready for a fresh start. He won't be on the roster when the season starts. And he won't be on any other roster but Houstons.

No shite boom, but if they can save $10million on the buyout, then they are going to want to save $10million on the buyout. Hence, it being a BUYOUT. If Melo doesn't want to budge at all when it comes to taking less money, you could easily see a prideful ownership group making him suit his arse up. What do they have to lose?

Tillman hasn't earned the Mr. yet?

Such disrespect for the new patriarch of the CC family.

For a team looking to rebuild and have a fresh start I'd say they have everything to lose. You think players around the league ain't watching to see how they treat their players? Taking a loss in their Eyes on the melo deal would benefit them in the future bc it tells prospective free agents that this organization treats the players well. This ain't the old Knicks. New regime.

Admittedly I always get a kick out of the people who say 'trade him to the worse team in the league' when a player request a trade. yea like the rest of the league ain't watching to see how you treat your players. Some havent Heard the term cut off your nose to spite the face.

I still think a deal gets done even if this goes into the season.

But I'm not worried about t because Ryan Anderson is a good player and I'm intrigued to see him in this offense as well.

I'm to the point where I'm fine with whatever happens.

It's going to happen eventually. I can't really see Carmelo playing for the Knicks at all. And there is no point in having that kind of player on the bench.

And there's no point in taking an absolute garbage trade either

People keep making this argument. Players are going to follow the money.

Players don't follow the money all the time.

They do the vast majority of the time. And once you take out veterans and the elite stars, the rest of the league does so at an even higher clip, I'm sure.

They won't give 2 shits about NYK not trading Melo, not the dudes who are looking for their 1st big pay days.

Yes, but Carmelo isn't viewed as reasonable in this situation. "I want out, but I'm not going to waive my no-trade clause unless you send me to Houston or Cleveland and only Houston or Cleveland." Two teams that have zero desirable rebuild assets. Not only that, they will likely want you to take on their crap contracts to make the trade match.

"Oh, also, I'm not going to accept less money. Sorry."

What exactly does NYC have to lose by playing hard ball with him? He's not going to lead them to a ton of wins. If he acts out, he does nothing but make himself look unprofessional. He's under contract. No one's going to feel sorry for him. I'm not saying it won't get done. It's in everyone's best interest to get it done. But to say Melo and the Rockets hold all the chips is absolutely absurd.

CC is the second best team in the league, comfortably, with or without melo. Melo makes CC the favourite if you get a green curry or durant injury. ryno, tbt, prob the same. So I'm a bit unsure why this is such a big deal especially in a thread about mr Alexander selling the team. Knicks don't want melo anymore. Melo can pick his team via no trade clause. He's been as good as a rocket for weeks and weeks. No months now. Knicks are playing about as much hardball as they can stand to. By waiting to trade him. But it'll be Houston and it'll be a unfair deal to many. But when you run your ship the right way like Houston does things tend to work out for you in deals like this. The Knicks see that they are on the losing end and they know they will need to be more Houston like in the future if they wanna be in the position to be on the benficial side of deals like this.
