In a text to my colleague @RussDinallo, who produced our E:60 story on Jared Lorenzen, Lorenzen's mother Janet confirmed that Jared died today. He was only 38. Janet said, "I lost my sweet boy today after a long hard fight."

yeah this sucks b/c Jared is a serious case of "what could've been"

just have to wonder what happened to him after he left the Giants... what demons took him over b/c it was clear he wasn't in a great place

RIP Jared

ESPN did a story about him a while back trying to lose weight for his son.

Seemed like a really good guy that just wouldnt quit eating. He had gotten to 600 pounds.

Poor guy.

Sad news. Didn't realize he was only 38.

I don't think it's hyperbole to say that he was one of the most unique QB's we've seen in the past two decades, if not longer.
