Rick Carlisle suggests the Hawks shouldn't have fired their coach because GA flipped blue

“Lloyd is a guy that has had a profound effect on the landscape of social justice, particularly over the last 12 months,” Carlisle said. “He was the chairperson in the Coaches For Racial Justice. He was the guy that was the first guy in the entire NBA to facilitate his local arena as a voting center in Georgia, and that triggered a chain of events that led to 22 NBA arenas being certified as voting centers.
“As we’re all well aware, the state of Georgia — in very large part because of Lloyd’s work and his commitment — went from being a traditional Republican state to a Democratic state not only in the electoral college vote in the presidential election, but also in the runoff elections in January, which has massively changed the landscape of our country. “

Sounds like he just is giving the guy props for being a part of that whole thing
Didn’t seem like he was making that connection

“I know that Black History Month officially ended yesterday, but on the way over here on the bus I heard about the dismissal of Lloyd Pierce in Atlanta,” Carlisle said. “This is a shocking development to all of us in the coaching world.

This guy facilitated people’s voting for a certain party, he wasn’t luring Trump voters. Despite being a shitty thing to do, it does not provide any evidence one way or the other of his ability to do his job. You’d have to look at the W/L column for that, which says he fricking sucks as a coach.

Yeah the way it read to me was like 2 parts to his statement
1.) we were all shocked he got fired, they had injuries the timing was weird etc
2.) he’s a great guy, look at all he did for that community out there. Etc etc

I guess these coaches don’t know about the article from the Athletic about Pierce. Hard to do much with a coach where the players don’t like you.
It also sucks that his efforts among others to get voters to turn out could be undone by the voter suppression bills getting passed in Georgia.

I hope the Hawks go winless and they move the team.

Noney, someone paying you to write that thread title?

I can't recall a time where a coach said anything other than it was surprising or terrible or unfortunate that a fellow coach was fired.

His record is 63-120. What is shocking about him being fired?

It’s becoming more and more difficult to follow the nba with the way they continue to reach to drag politics into the sport.

That's exactly what he was saying but of course dipshits on this board have to make it about something else.

Do you ever get tired of being such a monotonous imbecile who just repeats leftist talking points?

He definitely brought up politics, but that’s not the same as what your title suggests
