Quarterback Sam Darnold is reportedly leaning toward returning to the USC Trojans after the season.

On Monday, Benjamin Allbright of 104.7 FM in Denver cited a "USC source" who said the redshirt sophomore is "unlikely to leave this year." While Darnold has struggled with turnovers this season (10 interceptions in eight games), he is widely considered one of the top prospects in the 2018 draft should he leave school.

If/when he's graded as a top 10 pick, he's gone. It's just a smart move.

That being said, his play is down considerably this year, so we'll see.

You would think a USC QB would know better than anybody to GTFO when his star is brightest and not to tempt fate by returning for one more year.

def will be interesting to see where he grades.

for a "top 10 pick", he seems like quite the project

By not being the #1 draft pick, he has a better chance to avoid Cleveland.

Therefore, coming out now and being picked, say 10th, is much better teamwise that waiting to next year and getting picked 1st or 2nd to teams like Cleveland.

If I were him I'd rather grade out as 15-20ish pick than overall #1.

Screw going to Cleveland.

But how often are they drafting QBs by their grades now? Somebody would take him in the top 5.

He's really not though. He's a fantastic quarterback.

But the thing about Cleveland is, if he's graded 15th they'll still take him 1st overall.

Even then, wouldn't San Francisco be an attractive destination early in this next draft?

He's looked pedestrian and USC has looked awful.

Not impressed. Arm motion is too long. Throws too many INTs.

Been saying this all year. He's told people he wants to stay and improve. I think he realizes he's not ready yet.
