Kyrie is a bigger star than Melo and has been for awhile

You think that has to do with Kyries bubbling personality or because Kyrie has been playing for championships the past 3 years and Melo has been playing on 30 win teams every year?

This is so stupid. How in the actual frick are the Cavs going to operate a lineup of Melo, Love, AND LeBron. That would easily make them worse defensively. Only way that lineup maximizes Melo's talent is if he's at the 4 which means Love would have to play the 5...which would frick the Cavs over defensively still. Besides, would LeBron have to guard a 2?

I simply don't see how this lineup works and I'm guessing the Cavs feel the exact same way.

Kyrie can want all he wants, he doesn't have a no-trade so the Cavs can trade him to whoever gives them the best deal...or not trade him at all.

Kyrie is a new "star", but he doesn't bring much besides scoring and dribbling to a team. The Cavs were terrible with Kyrie running the team.

maybe but dumping anderson's contract... making superstars happy. Hou wants to be a player for lebron

The Rockets are playing for THIS YEAR, not next year's free agency which will feature a 33 year old LeBron James.

Trade is successful.... not sure if you got to throw picks in there to even anything out.

Ariza is going nowhere....NOWHERE. The Rockets aren't the ones that are going to be bending over in this trade...it'll be the Knicks, as it should be because they are the ones who gave Melo the NTC.

The Knicks roster after this trade would suck very, very bad. Kyrie would easily be their best player and he would be a high volume scorer with defensive limitations while the Knicks would also be blessed with Ryan Anderson who is a defensive liability with an expensive contract.

It has to do with a lot of things. being on a good team helps but if you remove that then Kyrie is still bigger

Do you think defense brings in endorsement money/attracts fans?

While I understand what you're saying, thats the Knicks and Kyrie's MO. This deal is going to take more than just Kyrie and the Knicks wanting this to get done. It has to make sense to a lot of other folks. Lets start with the Cavs, why would they do this deal knowing Porzingis isn't going to be apart of the trade? How would this trade make Cleveland better THIS season?

If you say they give Melo, then explain to me how Melo works on a team that starts LeBron, Love and Tristan Thompson. It makes NO SENSE basketball wise and Melo is unlikely to waive his NTC for Cleveland anyways.

So how does this get done without Melo or Porzingis from NYK's perspective?

Just because the NY media and Kyrie want it to happen, doesn't mean everyone is just going to bend over to make it happen.

Well you went way off topic. All I said is Kyrie would do very well in New York off the court.

I didn't say anything about the chances of this actually happening.

Depending on who else is on the floor, that's a better defensive trio than Kyrie, Love, and Lebron. Although Kyrie is better offensively than Melo at this point in their careers.

Maybe not in and of itself, but defense helps win games. And winning games is important to getting to the playoffs, and deeper into them. And playing deep into the playoffs gives a player more exposure. And more exposure leads to more endorsement potential.

Who guards the 2 and 3? Melo is atrocious at guarding 3s and he's only getting worse from here on out, while Kyrie could easily make improvements in his defense. I think its pretty obvious they would be an extremely slow lineup.

Kyrie never reaches that level without being on a top 2 team for the past 3 years. That finals win/shot skyrocketed him. That doesn't happen in New York playing next to corspes as James Dolan smiles from above

You think Kyrie is making 12 mill in advertising if he's winning 30 games a year in New York the last few years? There are plenty of big stars around the league on bad teams that don't get any exposure because they aren't on contenders
