Today They got shitpumped by Missouri 51-17 to go 5-6 on the season And Mike Leach is about to score 200 points in a game.

At least the fat Phil's interviewed him.

fricking Arkansas hired Jerry Jones' 14-22 hammer down buddy and, to my knowledge, never even called the pirate. The school was a perfect for him.

The SEC has a culture barrier with hires.

You have to have married a debutante or Magnolia girl or something...

And be willing to do all these glad-hand banquets with boosters and talk boring with old boring fuddy-duddies.

Leach would have never fit in.

It's not like he got hired at Georgia or Alabama.

Yep, but Tennessee is still living in the past.

Phillip Fulmer pushed hard to avoid a coach like Mike Leach.

Phillip Fulmer also squandered Peyton Manning for 4 years, only winning a NC the next year.

It’s breathtakingly stupid that Tenn or many other schools have refused to consider Leach.

Yeah bro.

The SEC is totally doing football incorrectly.

What the hell would Tennessee want with Leach?

Y'all romanticize these unorthodox and quirky coaches but winning in college football is about recruiting.

As bad as Tennessee is, a certain type of coach can still recruit the lights out there. They'll eventually hire a good coach who can recruit and they'll be fine.

Leach is against EVERYTHING that it takes to win big in college.

Pathetic football programs with nothing to lose want him. And that's what he wants.

Leach is a joke and isn't a viable bigtime college football coach.

meh Petrino was never some stud recruiter and he did just fine. Pinkel had decent success at Mizzou without high level talent. Leach is a good coach and has his system down pat. I think as long as he could pull in a top 30ish class every year he would be fine.

Mike Leach would never go to the SEC.

He learned the lesson of Mike Price.

The SEC is too Conservative and button-downed with the religious fanbase.

That doesn't allow coaches to let their hair down in private. It's 24 hour scrutiny. A guy wants to go to a strip club, let him go to a strip club. Mike Leach doesn't want to be the "role model" for the State just because he's your football coach.

Yes, why would any SEC program want a proven coach like Leach when intriguing and exhilarating guys like Jeremy Pruitt, Muschamp, and Matt Luke are available.

The entire premise of the thread is built on a lie, too. We didn’t want Schiano (or Doeren). Leach and Brohm didn’t work out because by that point, Tennessee just wanted a new athletic director to make the hire. The fans would have been supportive of either.

Except me. I still don’t want Leach.
