Receiver broke off the route...I don't know who's at fault there.

Receiver. He had the inside angle on the dB. It’s a td if he keeps running

backside was also wide open, which is what he went for.

Idk how you can fault either one there

Trick question.

It was the officials.

Looked like the WR broke his route off when he had inside position which makes it his fault. I guess it's possible he was supposed to cut out towards the corner but I highly doubt it.

Play reminded me of Oregon Stanford in 2012 when we had a miscommunication on either a post or corner route. Both thought the route was different and cost us.

Glad to see it happen to Ohio. In our title game we left 14 points on the board in the 1st q and then they ran down our throats. Sucks to leave points on the board and it couldn’t have happened to a trashier university

You never break off a route where you have inside position, because any good QBs will throw it when he sees you have the inakde(which Fields did)

The Wr screwed up from a basic high school level

QB had Dobbins wide open for an easy 10 yard gain.

Why he went for it all with a T.O. and 45 seconds left is crazy when they were marching down the field by hitting the sidelines and RBs.

QB delayed on the throw and kid thought that meant he was scrambling. Still on the WR by understandable.

How did he delay?

The ball was thrown before he made his post cut.

Kid cut to the flag.

Sounds like miscommunication or one of them not knowing the route.

QB

He should have seen that.

Unless it was a designed play, which makes it the WR’s fault, but also shows that Fields isn’t remotely as good as everyone thought.

Fields threw it to where the receiver was supposed to be, and was running to, until he broke off right as he threw the ball

Chris Olave thought Justin Fields was going to scramble and they weren’t on the same page. Chris is really torn up in the locker room.

That’s the kind of play where if guys had played together a couple more years they’re on the same page. Just went the wrong way at the worst time.

Yep. Play developed very awkwardly. Too slow to keep the timing, too fast to improvise. Each player made a split-second decision at the exact same time and it didn't work out. Probably more on the WR breaking route than the QB putting it there, but you take that risk with downfield plays. Dobbins was open too if I recall correctly and in that situation a checkdown to the RB who had been shredding the D all drive would've been fine too.

Neither player is faultless but none of it was egregious.
