I saw VADawg mention it but the 2005 OSU Squad.
Lost in week 2 to eventual National Champions Texas 25-22 because Ryan Hamby dropped a TD in the end zone. Lost in week 5 at Penn St 17-10. Finished the year at 10-2 but don't think anybody would have wanted a piece of them at the end of the year. Went on to beat Brady Quinn and ND in the Fiesta Bowl and we got this gem for the memories:

Hot take: 2016 Alabama, the year they lost to Clemson on the last second, was Saban’s best team at Bama
Not a hot take really. Of the 22 starters, 8 were first round picks, 1 was a second round pick (34th) and another was Eddie Jackson, arguably the best free safety in the NFL. Hurts could conceivably make it 9 first round picks, and will almost assuredly go no later than the 2nd. It's as dominant of a team that there has been in the last decade. Ole Miss was the only team they didn't beat by double digits in the regular season, and if memory serves they got a TD in the final seconds of that one. I think if Scarbrough doesn't get hurt in that championship then bama wins it fairly comfortably, but Hurts was struggling and Deshaun Watson is a generational talent. A shame that group lost it in on the final play after such a great season

It's glorious that they lost, but that was a great Bama team, 10-0 at LSU was their closest SEC game iirc

2000 Oregon State - Had Chad Johnson and only lost one game by 3 points and that was to a very good Washington team.
Oregon State had 30 straight losing seasons before that iirc. Why does Dennis Erickson turn whatever he touches to gold in his first season then gradually peter out after that?

2004 Auburn went undefeated in the SEC and missed the title game. Instead they won the Sugar Bowl while USC annihilated Oklahoma to win a title... which was subsequently stripped from them due to recruiting violations uncovered years later.
Jason Campbell right? First team that came to my mind too

'96 Arizona State probably wins the MNC if they win the Rose Bowl but they blew a late lead to OSU. They shut out the two-time defending national champion Huskers that year and ended their 20-something game winning streak.
Would've been their first MNC and who knows how the program changes after that. Their loss opened the door for Florida to win their first MNC after the Gators clobbered FSU in the Sugar Bowl rematch.

2002 Georgia was a damn good football team
David Pollack intercepting the ball off our QB's back in the endzone for the most insane Pick 6 you've ever seen.

Lost that game 13-7 when we fumbled an option play inside the UGA 10 with a minute to go.

His name was burned into my memory well before he became a Gameday host.

Florida hasn't played an OOC road game outside of their state in how long?
Are you of the belief that playing road games against instate rivals FSU and Miami is somehow easier because they’re played in Florida?

FSU and Miami suck right now

And we are now scheduling out of state teams on top of FSU every year. But the argument seems to be that playing at FSU all these years somehow made our schedule easier because it was in Florida.

You barely played Miami since 1987. And yeah Tallahassee is what, a two hours drive from Gainesville? Lots of familiarity between the two, etc

Boy that went over your head......

How about 2008 Texas? They lost to TTU on a bizarre fumbled INT and then lost the 3-way tiebreaker in the Big 12 south to OU (whom they had beaten), so OU won the Big 12 and got to play Florida in the BCS title game

Please explain. Other than it’s an interesting stat people like to throw out, Ive yet to hear how it’s been advantageous to UF.

Out of state means out if state. How hard is that for you to understand?
Posted on 11/22/19 at 2:23 pm to dukke v
And I asked if this is some big advantage to UF. All things vein equal, is a game in Tallahassee easier for UF than it would be for LSU or UGA?

They used to be tough games back in the day. But still there is no reason why FLA could not do a home and home with another top their team. Sorry but Miami is garbage now and FSU is just not the same. Sounds like you are scared.

We have road games scheduled at Texas, Utah, Colorado and Arizona State lined up on top of FSU every year. Plus some games with USF thrown in. What else more should UF do?
