Well Crane obviously still has to pitch in and do his part

Just want a scenario where we extend George and sign Cole

Can they commit to not paying Correa and let him walk and just re-up Cole? I don’t know how that works. I don’t dig into salaries etc etc.

I like it. The Gerrit Cole Tax

4.65 million people in Harris County.
$8 per year Gerrit Cole tax

$37,200,000 per year over say 7 years...$260,400,000.

For just 67 cents per month, you can keep Gerrit Cole in Houston.

If a hotel tax was used, y'all would make the visitors pay for the contract

I have a weird feeling it will get done. If I was Cole I would do a 3 year deal to ride out the Astros window then go home on a big deal. Best of both worlds.

This is 100% true.

At least I'm alive and old enough to enjoy it.

But congrats on the 27 championships.

Congrats to the Astros. Hoped my Rays would pull it off but I think we knew in our hearts we just didn’t have the right pieces. Good luck the rest of the way!

He has always been fairly media savvy and a bit of robot. He makes for a pretty good Kenny Smith in the Fox wannabe tnt, the straight man to papi and frank thomas.

They had a segment a few years ago with Pete Rose talking about hitting out of a slump that turned me around on arod. He can be pretty good when talking about the little things.

its also why I like Smoltz in the booth so much. He does a great job of breaking down pitching mindsets instead of reading signs like AJ was doing last night

If the Rays would just decide to spend some money and sign up that pitching staff and get a few more bats.. look out

Now see this is the innovative ideas that we need.

Personally I think Jim Crane is going to put up the money to make a strong offer. Spend money to make money type of deal. I just worry that he is going to get an insane offer now. If he stays this postseason was the passing of the torch from 1a Verlander 1b Cole to 1a Cole 1b Verlander. I think the worry about him wanting to be out of JVs shadow is over now.

I swear you just said the Twins were better then the Rays !
You really can’t honestly believe that ?
If so, everything you say now is meaningless

@RoundRockTim I just realized Hinch used Tucker to PH as a strategic move to force Cash to use his last LH reliever. This move prevented Cash from having a LH face Brantley in the 8th inning and we saw what happened there. As it turned out this was a brilliant move by Hinch. #Astros
