I doubt anybody was saying that, but he definitely wouldn't have been a first round pick. He had a big sophomore season, but was a disappointment this year. He could really improve his draft stock with another big year next year.

The farm system Saban has built is truly impressive.
He convinces these talented kids to come play at Alabama and wait their turn. This way they don't really play a ton until later in their career when they're more developed and then they often come back for senior year to improve their draft stock due to lack of film/stats. So he always has a stockpile of upperclassmen talent and younger talent.
I'm not even man, that's just impressive.

True, but they rotate a lot. And I'm just speaking in general. The depth is crazy and he always seems to get kids back for their senior years.

There was zero D-LINE depth the last two years. Q Will didn't even get any meaningful playing time last year. He just kinda came out of nowhere. He redshirted, then played garbage time his 2nd year, then became an Outland trophy winner.
Bama only had crazy depth in 15 and 16.
Those years had Jarran Reed, Ashawn Robinson, D'Shawn Hand, Daron Payne, Jonathan Allen, Tim Williams, Ryan Anderson and Dalvin Tomlinson.
