Hats off. Now get to work on child #10!

The time has come, dadgummit.
The man whose good-natured hollering was as renowned as his highly unorthodox and highly effective throws is hanging up his helmet to put on a different hat.
Philip Rivers, who came to San Diego in a draft-day trade in 2004 and played quarterback for the Chargers all but his final season in the NFL, will announce his retirement today.
Hats off. Now get to work on child #10!

I believe so. I wouldn't say first ballot though.

Lot of other QBs who are better than he is that have retired in the past few years or will retire in the next few years. He probably is a HOFer but not first ballot

He’s moving to God’s country aka Baldwin County

First ballot or not, you’re either a HOFer or not, it’s not like they give you a different jacket or less recognition if you have to wait another year or two

I assume he is still planning to coach high school football down there.

That’s the word. Spanish Fort, Daphne, and Fairhope about to lose all their recruits.

It’s a shame the 2006 Chargers team didn’t play for the Super Bowl. That was his best team.

Will him and Eli get in?
My pick would be that Rivers had the better career and is more deserving but the rings....
I watched the undefeated Pats super bowl last year and Eli was not that great, missing receivers all night and the Tyree pass was just thrown up in hope.

Without question.
Whether they should or not is a different question. But they’ll both get in

Yes, as they both should. You can’t deny 2 super bowl victories and durability (210 consecutive starts) for Eli and Rivers had a good career in totality.

Yes, Rivers had a Dan Fouts type career which is good enough. Eli is without question. Two super bowl rings and a solid career.
