The Pac-12 is expected to announce in the next few days if it's interested in adding new members to the 12-team conference, commissioner George Kliavkoff told ESPN on Tuesday.

"We'll announce a decision on whether or not we're going to be looking at expansion before the end of this week," Kliavkoff said. "That decision has been run on a parallel path to the conversations with [Big Ten commissioner] Kevin [Warren] and [ACC commissioner] Jim [Phillips] and the Big Ten and the ACC."

One question is whether the Pac-12 presidents and chancellors would want to expand the league's footprint into the state of Texas and/or the Central time zone for more exposure. If they did, Texas Tech, Baylor and TCU would more than likely entertain an offer.

Kliavkoff told the Las Vegas Review-Journal last week that his conference is "really, really happy with the 12 that we have in the league."

"The opportunity to revisit that following Texas and Oklahoma has certainly presented itself," Kliavkoff told the paper. "I am not actively poaching any school or convincing anyone to leave their existing conference, but I wouldn't be doing my job if I wasn't listening to schools that wanted to go in the Pac-12, and we've had a lot of them reach out. Probably all of the ones you would expect and several you'd be surprised by."

The only conference that will be expanding in the next few years now is the Big 12 or AAC, whichever one picks apart the other.

I don't know. I'd like to think there is a smidge of honor among thieves, and that Big 12 teams are absorbed into existing non-SEC conferences. The Arizonas and Oregon States of the world have to sympathize with the predicament Texas Tech and Oklahoma State find themselves in.

I think West Virginia naturally gets into the ACC, while the Big 10 and PAC 12 take 3-4 each. At least I hope that's what happens. It would be a damned shame if the Big 12 teams are left to hang alone after what TX and OU did to them.

I realize Louisianians probably don't care because it's not in their backyard, but these Texas and Oklahoma schools left hanging are good people, and I hope they find homes.

This reeks of the media stunt the Big 12 pulled several years ago with the whole progression of:
1. "Look at us we are so desirable....everyone wants to join us."
2. "We will form a committee to determine if any of the applicants are worthy of our consideration."
3. "We have determined that we are in fact so awesome that we don't need any more members."

And now, honestly, I do not feel that bad for the 8 remaining schools. They pulled this charade when Cincinnati, USF, UConn, etc were all left out when the Big East collapsed, and now it is being done to them when their own conference has collapsed.

I do think the Pac 12 eventually decides to expand into Texas and grab TTU and OSU. It just seems crazy that a state that big with so many recruits would only have two power 5 schools and the other conferences voluntarily allow the SEC to completely control Texas recruiting.

If they were to add some of those teams it wouldn’t have mattered to begin with

Live look at the Arizona's and Oregon State's sympathizing with the Big 12 leftovers.

I think most Texas and Oklahoma fans want Okie State, Texas Tech, Kansas in the SEC. Baylor and TCU not so much

It’ll get even better when the SEC leaves the NCAA and refuses to play these ‘alliance’ schools

Take it for what you will, but my buddy who graduated with me at OSU, is now in the Athletic department and the rumor is Big12 will be no longer.

All rumors are:
- WVU to the ACC
- Iowa St. and Kansas to the Big10
- TTech, Baylor, TCU, OSU, KState are trying to get in the PAC but there is little interest.

My guess is the PAC is less interested in Baylor and TCU because of their size and “religious” affiliations. But I’m biased as a Cowboy.

Worst case, those 5 schools end up in the AAC with the likes of Houston, SMU, Tulsa…

So the ACC, Big 10 and Pac 12 should take these other teams out of charity to them and the game? Whey doesn't the SEC take some of those teams too then?

I'll tell you why, because it would make their payouts per team less than what they are now. It isn't the Big 10, Pac 12 or ACC's responsibility to pick up the pieces that the SEC left behind.

I could see PAC-12 taking Texas Tech, Okie Light, and maybe Kansas State and a MWC school like Nevada or UNLV. That’s assuming Iowa State and Kansas go to Big 10.

Why are non Big 10 fans assuming this? It makes zero sense for the Big 10 to take either team.

I agree, but there are rumors floating out there. KU adds basketball power. Iowa State adds next to nothing.

Won't be what's driving these decisions. The Big 10's best move is to do nothing at this point.

KU and ISU are not getting BIG invites. The only people saying that come from their camps or are complete outsiders (the freaking Stache?).

Heck, even our incompetent commish Kevin Warren issued a statement that the BIG was comfortable with where the are now. Meaning standing pat. Meaning not expanding.

Why would the BIG add two schools that diminish the pie?

It's the exact reason Texas and OU left. It's not other conferences responsibility to clean up the Big 12 mess and provide a home to wayward schools. Put on your big boy pants and raid the AAC and MWC to backfill. Show you are worthy to be in a Power conference by, I don't know, carrying the fricking weight for the conference, for once.

The Irate 8 don't need landing spots, they need to take care of their own conference. But like the leeches they are they want to attach on to someone else and ride the gravy train that someone else provides.

This entire ordeal with these 8 remaining Big 12 schools is affirming that OU and UT were correct in finally leaving them.

Exactly, same reason the Pac12 isn't going to expand.
After the past year and half, these athletic departments are hemorrhaging money, they can't afford to take in less revenue.

When news broke about Texas and Oklahoma, they issued statements almost immediately almost confirming the newd. When Florida State and Clemson were mentioned in the news about possibly joining the SEC, they issued statements almost immediately denying the rumor. When Kansas and Iowa State were in the news about joining the Big 10...there were no statements. 100% Kansas, Iowa State, and the Big 10 are in talks.

Except the Big Ten commissioner said just yesterday the conference was fine with its current makeup.

The leftover Big 12 teams should look at expanding with some AAC or MWC schools to shore up their conference. That's their best hope of salvaging anything out of this.
