Opt outs on sidelines during bowl games.

I’ve noticed a number of bowl games now where the opted out players are still on the sidelines for the game.
Thoughts on this? And will LSU do the same?
Personally I don’t like it, I think at the point of opting out you’re no longer on the team.

I don't have any real experience as a high level coach. But, if someone at my office has been a good employee and is leaving on good terms for a good reason, I am not a dick to them.

The reason they give for opting out is to prepare for the combine. Then stay home and prepare for the combine.

Only fans feel this way. Coaches and players get it. And those opting know their coaches and teammates are cool and that’s what is important to them.

Especially getting all the bowl gear and participating in the events. I’m sorry but bowl season is still work. If I work 10 months out the year and I take 2 months off I shouldn’t expect to get my end of the year bonus. That’s just silly

I think it’s pretty simple. The kid is still on the team, he’s just avoiding getting hurt in an exhibition game. He’s done more for this university than a majority of the fans. Let him stand anywhere he wants. It really doesn’t bother me as much as others.

Yea, and watching ND vs. SC they even did a sideline interview of ND’s top opt out players… it’s just strange

the bowl is supposed to be a reward for hard work throughout the season and up to and including the game, if you quit early you shouldn't be able to be around unless you buy a ticket to the game
