On the wisdom of Our Lady of Lourdes renaming UL

Football stadium. WTF. Can anyone explain to me the wisdom of this move. I get that UL wants free money for a fresh coat of paint and your name on the building. But what huge advantage does Lourdes get? Anything to do with maintaining a high profile in light of the Oschner Lafayette General partnership?
Does anyone ACTUALLY make their healthcare decisions based on the freaking name on the local schools press box or the billboard on the highway?

I feel like a lot of this kind of advertising is a dick measuring contest between the guys who happen to be running things at the time.

Well, I'm not complaining. We are in the process of doing a full stadium renovation.
It's all about marketing and branding. Anytime the Cajuns are on tv, the big logo and name will be plastered all over the tv. It's the same reason Ochsner sponsors the Saints.

Not in their conscious thoughts but name/brand recognition is probably a factor in more consumer decisions than you think.

Free marketing, advertising, and having the company name, image, and logo displayed on National tv during broadcast games. Same reason why Caesars just signed a 20-year, $200M naming rights contract for the Superdome. Same reason why Dudley DeBosier is the official partner of LSU athletics

Strange hill to charge on a Wednesday

Dudley DeBossier is also the official law partner for the Saints and Cajun Athletics

I understand why Dudley and every other Lawyer are advertising because there are lots of them.
I understand advertising and what it does. But what about the captive market. There are only 2 hospitals in town. Insurance will dictate to some degree where you will go when you get sick. (Am I wrong here? I don’t think so) And people with no resources or insurance will go wherever they want. So is it a dick measuring contest between the 2 hospitals? CEO ego?
So why does the donation make sense? Lourdes has been around for years. How much higher does the company profile need to be? They are a catholic hospital in a largely catholic community. Neither one is going to run the other out of business.
So, same question, why does it make sense for Lourdes?

OLOL is taking a bath on social media posts in response to this news. People are livid that a hospital has $15M to blow on naming rights & a stadium upgrade. They'd all much rather lower priced medical bills, more pay for hospital staff, etc. all instead of this nonsense.
I certainly can see where they're coming from.

I mean, UL is going to completely renovate the stadium. It’s not a coat of paint, complete demo and reconstruction of the upper deck and modernization of the stadium. It’s roughly $75-80M in renovations, all privately raised and not FEMA money.

I understand what/why UL is doing this. It’s just fundraising.
I don’t understand what Lourdes gets that is worth 15 million bucks that raises their profile in the community where they are already an institution . I know people who use Lourdes interchangeably with “the hospital”. It’s been around longer. The larger system has no dog in the hunt. The only connection I see from the Franciscans is the hospital itself. I’m not trolling or anything. I just don’t necessarily see what Lourdes gets in return for their investment.
