Tomorrow is finally opening day, the day where you set the pace for 162-0 or 0-162. I figured it would be cool to share some memories of MLB games and experiences.

My favorite was the week after I graduated high school. My brother and I drove to Atlanta to catch a couple Braves games. We ended up on the first base line right behind the dugout for John Smoltz's 200th win. He went 7 scoreless in an epic duel with Tom Glavine who was with the Mets at the time. Braves held on to win 2-1 and the atmosphere felt like a big time SEC football game tbh.

I haven't been lucky enough to do the multi city road trips yet which I'm so jealous of, but this was such a cool game to be at.

Twins/Rangers/Red Sox spring training in southwest Florida. As a youth, I was more in to baseball. We would visit family during spring break almost every year and catch a few games. About as up close and personal as you can get to a major league team

I went to a Braves vs. Twins series in Atlanta in 2013. I remember Dan Uggla hitting a towering moonshot off the scoreboard, I thought that ball would never land. The next day Freddie Freeman hit a walk-off oppo gap shot.

The very first Florida Marlins game...we beat the Dodgers 1-0. I thought for sure we'd have some crazy year for an expansion team similar to what the Las Vegas NHL team did recently.

Dad was a huge Nolan Ryan fan and my brother a Jose Canseco and McGwire fan. Went to see a Rangers Athletics series when we were kids. Stayed at the hotel where the players stayed at.

The players were hanging out by the pool. My brother was on crutches so he couldnt get in the pool, but me and a couple of kids played catch with Jose and some of the other players. I told him how much my brother loved him and he saw him sitting by the pool. He went over and talked to him, called the hotel manager to the pool, and got all the kids out of the pool and took them into the hotel restaurant to eat with him and a few of the players. No parents or media were allowed at the meal because they were all wanting to take pics. We ate a bunch of food with the players and they went to the game that night.

Went to batting practice. Jose and the players saw a few of us. Gave us balls and all kinds of shite. I got a bat from Mike Gallego, that I still have.

Rickey Henderson was a complete a-hole

I grew up about an hour outside of ATL. I have a ton of Braves memories. Saw Bonds when he was with the Pirates. Schilling led Phillies. The big unit when he was in AZ. 96 Olympics game between Cuba and Japan. Good times.

I try to catch games at a couple different stadiums each summer, even some MiLB as well.

A couple weeks ago I was in Florida for ST. This summer I’ll add Citi Field and Petco on two different trips, which will take me up to 23 current major league parks. I’ll probably watch my bank acct take a dip too, haha.

Nothing beats taking in the sights and sounds of a ballgame. I’ve found pleasant evenings to be had at short season A in Grand Junction, or a big game at Busch Stadium. Baseball, beer, boobs. It’s the best.

Went on a trip with my Dad in 97 where we went to games at:

Wrigley
Tiger Stadium (the GOAT)
Three Rivers
Shea
Olympic Stadium
Skydome (now Rogers Centre)
Cinergy Field

Also the baseball hall of fame and Louisville slugger museum

It was great, saw two of the greatest stadiums (and 7 dumps), saw Roger Clemens throw a complete game shut out, Mark McGwire right after he was traded to the Cards, Smoltz pitch against Pittsburgh, Ryno hit two home runs against the Dodgers, and lots of things I forget

I’ve been fortunate enough to do some multi city trips with my dad and they are some of my best memories. Still have the west coast and some Midwest to do

I went to see the Braves play the Giants and Bonds LINK

Glavine pitched really well, gave up a triple to Livan Hernandez of all people.

The real fun was in the 8th when Bobby brought in Smoltz. I don't know what music he came out to but hearing that, the crowd noise building when people realized who was about to enter, the bullpen door opening and Smoltz just started walking out like he was in the WWE. It was the only time I ever got chills at a baseball game.

I haven't been to too many games but managed to see Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz, Clemens, Bonds AND Wes Helms homer in each of the first two games I ever went to.

Next door neighbor took me and my dad to my first.
10 years old.

Saw Hank Aaron hit two high drives way out, to left center.

Watching the 1975 Reds/Red Sox WS with my grandfather. He loved baseball and I grew up next door and we would always watch the all star game and the WS together at his house. I really miss that man and can’t see MLB without thinking of him.

My entire childhood, my grandparents lived in either Florida or Las Vegas. In 1999, they decided to move back to our city and started building a house about a mile down the road. While the house was being built, they lived in our guest room. I watched almost every single Braves game that year with my pawpaw. Although the world series was a terrible sweep, I'll never forget that season.

When TBS came to our cable provider, my grandfather was in heaven. Before that, if I remember correctly, there was only a game of the week on Saturday.
