Sitting at 13 commits right now including nine in the Top100 of the 247Sports Composite, this Buckeyes class would already have finished No. 13 in the 2020 class rankings and Day and his staff still have nearly half the class to go.

So with that, how special could this haul in Columbus really be?

For perspective, recruiting classes that finish with an average ranking per commit over 94 is pretty rare. We’ve only had five total hit that mark in the history of our 247Sports network dating back to 2010, and the Buckeyes have done it twice, once in 2017 and again the following year. The 2017 haul Urban Meyer and his staff put together headlined by Chase Young and Jeff Okudah is still pound-for-pound the highest-rated class when looking at average ranking per commit at 94.59. Alabama gave that a run in 2019 coming in at 94.38. No program hit the mark over 94 in 2020.

As we move forward, Ohio State is the 247Sports Crystal Ball leader for or has burn regarding the following prospects: Five-star defensive tackle J.T. Tuimoloau (.9972), top-ranked receiver Emeka Egbuka (.9944), five-star running back TreVeyon Henderson (.9888), running back Donovan Edwards (.9809), offensive tackle JC Latham (.9787), defensive end Tunmise Adeleye (.9787) and the No. 2 safety in the country Derrick Davis (.9780) who are all ranked inside the Top50 of the 247Sports Composite Player Rankings. OSU is also in the middle of it for five-star offensive tackle Tristan Leigh (.9899), defensive end Demeioun Robinson (.9764) and offensive lineman Rocco Spindler (.9761) who are Top50 prospects as well, with defensive tackle Tywone Malone (.9750) right outside at No. 53.

Reminder: there were a fair number of people on this board claiming Ryan Day was a “lazy hire” by OSU

Very true. It's still early for him, but his recruiting efforts are impressive. This class is going to be sick.

Great, now we'll have to hear more yankee propaganda about how they're the most complete team in the country for years to come.

I don't know why people keep saying that. Signing day is December now. Kids are committing before their senior year starts. Schools like osu or lsu aren't going to have a ton of decommitments.

are schools like alabama only going to have one kid in their class?

so much can change between now and december. so much. other schools are going to pick up commitments, kids rankings are going to shuffle around, you name it. its very possible OSU ends up with a GOAT class, but id wait to start talking about it until we actually get into december

So they’re chasing history but if they maintain this average, they will have been one of many who have done it before?

I don’t follow.

What exactly is so funny about the article? Do you really think osu is going to miss out on most of those kids?

I think the main take away is that Ryan Day picked up right where Urban Meyer left off. This will be a Top 5 class at minimum.

Michigan fans are on 24/7 suicide watch. They thought it was their time.

i really think trying to look at kids OSU currently has a crystal ball lead on in march is a wild thing to prop up considering what recruiting is and how quickly everything changes and considering how schools like alabama havent even started picking up their own commitments yet

Every year there's some article about this or that school getting the greatest recruiting class ever.

I remember it with the Carroll dynasty and then Meyer at Florida and Nicky at Bama and now the last few year it's tOSU despite them not winning titles.

To be fair, we don't have much to talk about these days (sports related).
