This is completely random, but does anyone else get really pissed off when a player goes up for a one handed dunk and pushes off the defender with the off hand? It happens all the time and usually ends up with a defender getting posterized, the crowd going wild, and commentators praising the dunk and just completely ignoring the offensive foul. Seems like it never gets called.

It's hard enough to block dunks as it is, the offensive player doesn't need extra help from the refs. It's no wonder no one plays defense anymore.

I’ve also wondered why they don’t call traveling when the dude takes like 8 steps

You must be easily offended.. if that really pisses you off.. Can honestly say I have watched thousands of basketball games and this has not even on the radar of my concern

How is that a dumbass statement? How many times have you seen a player go up for a dunk and the defender just walks away to avoid getting dunked on? If they actually officiated correctly players might attempt to block the shot.

Okay, let me rephrase... "it really annoys me". I mean I'm not losing sleep over it or anything. Just one of those "grinds my gears" kind of things.

Because players do play defense.

Players who walk away know they aren’t in position to contest the shot and instead concede the dunk.

It has nothing to do with purposely not even attempting to play defense even if they are in position to do so.

Yeah, I'm sure that's why it's never called. I'm just one of those people that get more hyped over a block than a dunk, so I'd be more entertained if they made the right call and encouraged players to defend the dunk more.

Meh.... some do. Most usually do in the playoffs, but there is a lot of shitty defense in the NBA regular season.

I think it's a combination of both.

This isn’t the park. Getting dunked on isn’t a big deal. It’s only a big deal, excluding those absolutely nasty dunks on people, to people that are rarely around it.

Not only is it no call on the offense. It’s very likely that you get a call against you for players who tap the players wrist or arm.

I miss people going into the lane and getting hammered. However...

You answered your own question as to why there is no call.

I didn't ask why there's no call. I understand it's for entertainment. Just wondering if it annoys anyone else besides myself.

The defender has very little rights when in the restricted area. Which they most often are when someone is dunking on them
