I’ll admit, I was initially wowed by their D Line earlier in the season. After watching Brees, Kamara, and Cook butt frick their defense all day I think it’s safe to say they’re a paper tiger.

Their offense is just a misdirection/window dressing salad. Works okay sometimes (especially with the massive ref assist they got today) but gets exposed in the playoffs. Jimmy G is not a good QB, feel free to downvote away, but it’s the truth.

Not in the least worried about a rematch in Santa Clara. I really do think the Saints blow them out in a playoff rematch, assuming the Seahawks or Packers don’t take care of them first.

The Saints have an edge at every position except the secondary, and it could get ugly with a revenge-minded Payton and Brees, especially after they saw how the Whiners fans behaved in the dome today.

I was more impressed with the Saints.

Like I said in a different thread, there’s no clear cut SB contender in the NFC. It’s honestly a toss up between 49ers-Saints-Seahawks. I’d even throw in Green Bay as a dark horse.

Broken plays, trick plays, Ref assist, our horrendous defensive play, Our unexplainable offensive calls at certain times...… It all went their way today.

I look forward to a re-match.

frick the niners.

I just don’t think they’re all that great. Good team sure, but playoff-mode Brees and company will murder them in a rematch. Seahawks are definitely legit but have some glaring flaws that just so happen to be the Saints strengths. Just don’t really see anybody with enough offense to keep up with New Orleans in the playoffs.

The Ravens and Chiefs look to be the best teams.

Meant to say in the NFC playoffs. Saints and Ravens would be an incredible matchup that could go either way (just being honest as a Saints fan)

If the Saints played the Ravens, that Saints D might give up 100 points in regulation.

Not really.

Saints D has been pretty outstanding. Today was an anomaly. Being down their 2 starting LB’s clearly affected them.

Take the purple and black tinted glasses off. The Saints defense has a bad day. It happens to everybody. Take away the blatant drive extending penalties and the one short field that Kamara gifted them and they really only gave up 24 points.

Lamar Jackson would put Dennis Allen in the fetal position by halftime. It would be a bloodbath.

Here’s the thing if you say Jimmy G is a bad quarterback, what does that make our defense who just gave up 48 to him?

ETA: Either you're genuinely bipolar or you got me to commit to way too much text in my OP, frick.

Stats referenced in my prior post still below so that all can partake in the quantification of the Niners' ongoing 2019 excellence.

quote:

I think it’s safe to say they’re a paper tiger

#1 in NFC
3 point loss to AFC #1 on road
3 point loss to NFC #2 after rookie backup kicker shank in OT (seeded #5 due to divisional technicality)
Total annihilation of NFC #3
Road victory over NFC #4 today (and now surpassing said team in strength of schedule of games played)

#1 NFC points allowed
#1 NFC yards/game allowed

#1 NFC points scored
#3 NFC yards/game produced (with #1 and #2 having losing records feasting on garbage time)

I agree with you to a point. Saints played sloppy and undisciplined all game, especially on defense, but SF's defense was surprisingly unimpressive outside of some individual plays made by Bosa. Saints might have hung 50 on them if SF hadn't laid a dirty hit on Cook. It sucks that a rematch doesn't get the advantage of having the home crowd but if everyone is healthy, I think the Saints will beat them if they face off again.

Is the original poster John Kincaid? He predicted on his radio show Sunday morning that whoever wins the NFC East would beat the 49ers in the wild card round of the playoffs.

I am!
And Shanahan is going to be a very good coach for a very long time considering he's not even 40 yet
Has a chance to do Belichick type things.
He almost won the Falcons a Super Bowl and they haven't been the same since he left.
