Norm Sloan.....any memories of this old-time BB coach?

I know his career ended with controversy, but I always thought he was a good coach. He built the UF BB program from the ground up.

That NC State-UCLA NCAA semi-final back in '74 was an all-time classic.

I got to meet him personally when UF played ULL in the NIT here in Lafayette in the 80s

He liked playing a 1-3-1 zone with his big man at the top.

Those NC State teams from 72-75 were legendary, unfortunate how restricted the NCAA Tournament was then that they couldn’t defend their title due a loss to UNC in the ACC Tournament. Could def make a valid and serious argument David Thompson’s the greatest college basketball player of all-time, dude gets criminally overlooked when it comes to the top 10.

I only remember him at Florida - decent coach, looked like Barney Rubble...
