Chicago would never allow Milwaukee to have a team.

Yes. Which is the problem that he's said in so many words.

Look at the absolute rocket ship in braves attendence and fan enjoyment once they moved from downtown to an area that, uh...let's just say has more season ticket holders.

If the potential and money is there, Chicago couldn’t stop it.

The issue wasn't location.
Or marketing.

The ownership group was crap. They were literally suing themselves.

We had 1 playoff series in like 16 seasons and we never fired the general manager (because he knew more hockey than the ownership group).

The ticket gates and merchandise revenues were quite good considering the product. Hell... we never returned a team captain for the first 8 years of the franchise.

The Flames had a good owner who got stuck in some shitty real estate deals and needed to sell the team for capital.

The thrashers may have had the worst ownership group in the history of the NHL.

History of sports. For as much as people rail on Snyder and the Redskins, the ASG was significantly worse.

I could author a book about how wretchedly run the Thrashers were, and the Hawks were almost worse.

Exactly.

Everyone simps to "mUh aTtEnDaNcE" when the real issue was always ownership. The ASG were godawful.

Funny how Betteman is bound and determined to make Arizona work but bolted Atlanta like Bonnie and Clyde.

He's an idiot.

I don't think it's his love affair with Arizona or Phoenix so much as the unique situations surrounding the franchise. He couldn't let Balsillie buy the club out of bankruptcy and bypass the league's rules regarding ownership vetting and relocation.

Then, with the Glendale disaster, he probably would have preferred that the Yotes had moved back to Winnipeg when the city of Glendale narrowly continued the lease in 2011. I truly think Bettman would have preferred to lose Phoenix vs Atlanta that year.

The thrashers never had a problem filling up the arena. I don’t know how many times people on this website have to tell people that.

Uhh where? Saskatoon with its 260,000 metro area? Regina with its 250,000?

How’s that Canadian dollar vs USD going as well?

People only hear what they want to.

But that narrative has been proven false over and over.

Chicago is an Original 6 team w/a fanbase all throughout the tri-state area.(IL, NW Indiana, SE Wisconsin). Milwaukee and Chicago are only 92 miles apart and I'm sure there are plenty of Blackhawk fans in and around Milwaukee and that entire area of Wisconsin and IMO, I don't think the Blackhawks would.want another team that close to their own fanbase. And w/them being an Original 6 team they have some pull I would think.

The Rangers is original 6 but that didn’t stop the Islanders and Devils.

That was way before the proliferation of teams that we have now.

Plus NY can handle 2 teams. The Rangers are more for the Manhattan/Brooklyn/Bronx crowd and the Isles fanbase is centered around Long Island/Queens.

Quebec City, Hamilton, Saskaskoon, Hartford, Milwaukee, Salt Lake City. I’d say Cleveland, but Columbus has a team. All northern cities. Keep that shite in cold weather cities.

Yet two Sunbelt teams are playing for The Cup.

Doesn't exactly help your argument.

And it's Saskatoon.

Milwaukee is North Chicago, you'd be pulling Blackhawk fans.
