What’s a good team to follow for a beginner?

I’m just getting into hockey and trying to find a team.

Signed up for ESPN plus to get most of the games.

Dallas Stars considering they are the closest to Louisiana?

My advice is to follow a team that will surely make the playoffs. Even though I’m not a Stars fan, they are a safe choice.

However, following them can be a little tougher than the other teams because I think you have to watch them locally here in BR on the Victory+ app. The out of market teams… you can every game on ESPN+ and the national broadcasts. I follow the Kraken and see every game, no problem.

The Kraken are ordinarily a fun team to follow but this season they are so boring. They have zero offense and zero stars on the team, so I can’t recommend them unless you want to get in on the ground floor with a team.

The Panthers are a fun team. Utah is a fun team but they don’t always win. Nashville has had a rough start, but they are fun, too. And not so far away.

Hop in with another new, beginning team. I'd say Seattle, Utah, or LV are good.

The Preds are fun, but they're off to a rough start. The Canes play a very interesting brand of hockey, so even though they may not win all the time, they're extremely entertaining.

Watch various games on ESPN+ choosing different teams broadcast. You will settle in on which teams and which broadcast teams you like about half way into the season.

I would recommend the Minnesota Wild. Good start to the season. Good young star in Kaprizov. Brock Faber is going to become a star defenseman in the league. Guys like Boldy and Spurgeon are easy to root for. The final season of The Flower, Marc-Andre Fleury in net. Announcing team and production is great and Minnesota is the State of Hockey, so you'll get a lot of in-game references to what is going on at the high school and college hockey levels, even some youth hockey shout-outs.

This promo here is EXACTLY what a youth hockey Squirt/PeeWee road tournament is like. I could watch these videos all day on YouTube.

Awesome, the Wild are a team I was gravitating towards last year.

I may go wild.

Thankfully, Holloway is OK after taking a puck to the neck.

Parker Kelly of the Avs blocked 5 shots in one shift as the Kraken peppered shots with an empty net… they still scored.

Hopefully this game gets them back on track - Mikko 2 goals, Nate 5 assists
But Makar left in the 2nd period please don’t be hurt …

Makar sounds like he will be fine, but Avs injuries that Bednar makes sound minor tend to drag on…

Stars did it right when they abandoned Ballys.

I can get every game free on the victory plus app being in Louisiana.

I thought Jets were going to crush the Avs and Georgie tonight

Colorado may have played their best game of the season, definitely best goaltending performance, but lose on the first shot of the game.

PANTHERS

You get to have a team in South FL

My other pick would be whoever has the coolest looking jersey/logo/play style to you. Just go off vibes. Watch a season or two and some team will stick out.

Kraken and the Golden Knights with a very entertaining duel tonight. Goes into OT… Kraken take it 4-3.

Kraken have looked terrible over the last four games. They really needed this one and played like it.
