The NFLPA should want comp picks to go away. It rewards teams for not paying enough to keep their own players.

I think i concur. Why should you be rewarded for letting players walk when they get paid good value bc you drafted well.

Good tactic by the nflpa in adding a negotiating point.. It will divide some of the owners who understand and use the system better..

Or just adjust and find the next undervalued system to keep them a step ahead of the league.

NFLPA is on the right track but wrong lane here. The real issue they are seeing is the rookie wage scale, which has made a rookie contract the most valuable thing in football and cut away a lot of the money from the veterans. Which was the opposite of their intent when they agreed to it.

It hurts parity. The Patriots and the Eagles are dominating the comp pick process.

I'd agree with it if they had some sort of mechanism to go over the cap to keep their own players, but they don't.

The system in place is already insanely punitive to successful teams, and this is just another slam against the well run teams in the NFL.

Are teams regularly not maxing out their cap?

they should do like the NBA and distribute spend equally across the roster if a team doesn't meet a salary minimum

Pretty rare for any team to hit the max. Think only a handful of teams didn’t roll over cap this year.

Then you have teams like the Colts who have 70 plus million in cap space right now after the first two waves of FA.

With the hard cap, I don't think a single team actually maxes out their cap, and that's before you consider potential restructures.

You can't let your team hit the cap basically as insurance against injuries. If you have two or three players go down in the season, you need some cap flexibility in order to sign other players.

Fine then they should waive their right to sue in court over disciplinary punishments imposed by the league, ask the league to concede something, they concede something Negotiation 101
