So at what point does this take effect? Only the last two min? Why wouldn't a team be punished if this happened with 9 min. left in the 3rd quarter. They don't lose a timeout if someone gets hurt then but what if it's a big 3rd down and it gives them all the advantages you list...

Also, your best WR being forced to come off the field does not outweigh a few extra seconds to talk to your coach when you already have plenty of time.

Teams don't fake injuries to save time on the play clock.


Tired defenses playing against up tempo offenses do and have as have teams who needed the opportunity to substitute against a team going no huddle.
