Drafted by the Falcons and the Oilers. Astronauts begged him to sign with the Oilers on Gemini 7 mission.

First player picked by the Falcons in their history.

More details

Sounds like he had brain damage from his playing days. He didn't realize the Falcons were in the Super Bowl earlier this year.

quote:

"We've told him the Falcons are in the Super Bowl, and we wear red and black," Lynn Nobis said. "But it doesn't seem to click. I don't know if he understands."

quote:

When the Falcons reached the Super Bowl last season, his wife told the Houston Chronicle that she wasn't sure if Nobis had any idea what his former team had accomplished.

Well ... to be fair ... this occurrence does have really small odds ... like 3 in 28 trillion.
