It took seven years for the NCAA to come to this conclusion. That's less efficient than a government agency.

The only way unc was going to get punished is if it was determined these classes were created for the student athletes and only available to them. Once it was determined this wasn't the case, there was no case

Any semblance that the NCAA cared about "student athletes" and their education pretty much died today with this ruling.

About 50% iirc. That was the problem with this case.

Except when you consider that the athletes make up way less than 50% of the student body, which demonstrates that the percentage of *cough* student *cough* athletes who take these "classes" is much higher than the percentage of the student body as a whole.

It's a fricking joke.

"We know that UNC was giving grades to athletes, but because they gave grades to non athletes, it's okay"

if you gave all of your athletes a car, just be sure to give a few cars out to the general student population as well and the NCAA can't touch you.

Reminds me of the Cam Newton situation, where just because the father takes money, if the athlete "does not know about it", the school is in the clear.

The NCAA literally does not enforce its rules. Useless organization.

Louisville should argue that non-athletes got to bang hookers too.

That's fine but now that it's come to light that the NCAA can do nothing about academic fraud it needs to be shut down.

Right because these BS paper courses exist at every university. It is well known that free A elective/humanity type courses exist for people to bump their GPAs.

This is why you often see a differentiation between total GPA and core GPA.

As if there was any doubt before, but the NCAA just solidified itself as a for-profit organization. They are only concerned about that bottom line.

It's ok to cheat if you let the students benefit

It's a high enough percentage of regular students that you can say for certain that these classes were available to regular students. That's all that matters.
