You're kinda making everybody's point. Harden will have a historically good regular season.

And then get bounced in the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Count me as one of those people who don’t watch the NBA anymore. The product is absolute garbage. I’m a Cavs fan and i totally realize the Cavs did this too, but these “super teams” are ruining the league. Once upon a time, NBA players used to want to play against each other. There used to be 8-12 teams that could win it all, now with these super teams, everyone knows who’s gonna win the tittle before the season even starts. So why even tune in? Also.....officiating..officiating..officiating!!!!! The way the NBA is officiated is joke. It went from traveling, to the and 1, to the euro step...to players literally taking 5-6 steps without dribbling. The way the officiate “stars” is ridiculous too. Guys like James Harden shooting 30 free throws in a game is just ridiculous. So as of right now, I’m a fan sitting on the sideline. I love basketball, but the NBA needs changes and is going to continue to slide. What are they gonna do when Lebron leaves? These ratings are only going to get worse.

Super teams era is over. The players who only won titles bc of super teams will have that remembered about them in the anals.

Lebron and durant.

I think nba fans underestimate how much this bothers the older generation and fans (think 45-60). While they may no longer be the target audience, they are still eyeballs and money.

This is complete hogwash.

The NBA has never had parity.

Too many regular season games that don't start until 10:30 pm or later. Ain't nobody got time for that. Why would I tune in for a November game to watch the fricking Knicks?

You are definitely onto something here. Maybe it is because I am an old school guy who believes in respecting authority, I dunno. But I feel like the players are running the league.

I have a hard time believing David Stern would have allowed the bullshite with Lebron recruiting Anthony Davis to happen.

silver has done lots of things to make the game better. Remember Stern allowed hack a shaq on his watch. Thankfully silver cleaned that up.

The product is absolute garbage
I just don't know how anyone can this, especially when it's considerably better than the late 90's early 2000's ISO era.
quote:

Once upon a time, NBA players used to want to play against each other. There used to be 8-12 teams that could win it all,
One of the biggest themes of the entire offseason was how there is a movement away from the superteams (e.g., Big-3, Big-4 in GSW's case) with more 2 superstar teams (e.g., Lebron-AD, Kawhi-PG3, Harden-Westbrook, Embiid-Simmons, Kyrie-Durant when he gets healthy, Lillard-McCollum) and a bunch teams who are playing well don't even have only one star (Giannis, Butler, Jokic, Luka, Towns) or don't really have any (Raptors although Siakam could be one, Suns although Booker is a fun player).
quote:

The way the officiate “stars” is ridiculous too. Guys like James Harden shooting 30 free throws in a game is just ridiculous.
Harden is an extreme outlier, both currently and historically. But superstars have always gotten calls (and good at drawing actual fouls). And there are far fewer fouls and free throws and more possessions. For example, currently in 101.9 possessions per game, there are 22.0 fouls, and 23.8 FTAs. For a comparison, in 1988-1989 in 88.9 possessions per game, 22.2 fouls, and 25.8 FTAs. So for every 100 possessions, this season has 3.4 fewer fouls and 5.7 fewer FTAs.
quote:

What are they gonna do when Lebron leaves?
While there are plenty of promising, young superstars (Giannis, Luka, Towns, etc.) there was always going to be a problem when a transcendent superstar like Lebron left the game like MJ before him. At least the play is much better than the terrible ISO offenses that everyone went to after MJ dominated in it.
