Why couldn't they schedule the Heat and Pacers tonight?

Game 7 of Knicks Pacers would've been Sunday evening, correct? That kinda turnaround wouldn't work.

I would think that game would have been played tonight.

I'd like to know why the Spurs and Grizzlies play tomorrow then not again until Saturday.

You may be right, either way there's no way to start the eastern conference finals tonight.

No, it would have been tonight. But it didn't happen, so that's irrelevant.

Yeah, its pretty dumb that they'll basically be 2 games behind by the time they tip off.

are all of the game times set in advance or do it series by series?

Series to series mostly. But there's specific start dates for the Finals (June 6th). And rough start dates for the ECF pre-arranged. So basically if some series are going quick they'll put an extra rest day in there to slow the series down. Or if a series has started late they'll do games every other day to speed it up.

They decided to start Game 1 of the Heat/Pacer series on Wednesday to give writers/teams a set date to make plane/hotel reservations. At least that's my assumption. When in doubt always assume it has to do with media/team logistics.

Once the Knicks forced a game 6, the ecf was set for Wednesday. Had the pacers won in 5, the ecf would've started tonight.

Yep

And the ECF, if I'm not mistaken, will play every other night once started. So they will have played 2 games by the time WCF tips off their 3rd.

ETA: I checked before posting, but once the ECF catches up to two games, each series will play every other night.

The NBA must think that the Spurs -Griz series will go 7 games and the Heat will take care of the Pacers in 4 or 5 and are trying not to have one team have such a long layoff.......

There was no way they could do it so there was 1 game every night on at 7:30 huh? These 9 pm starts are so dumb for the teams from the "West" since both of these teams are in the middle of the country

To be honest, I needed this break. Watching LeBron every other night for the past two weeks has really done a number on my wrist. I have some laundry to do too.
