Just announced that they will hold 4 Cup races- two each at Darlington and Charlotte in May, all done with no fans in the stands.

Will also have Xfinty and Truck racing as well.

NASCAR announces revised May schedule

NASCAR spectators might be the least relevant fans in any spectator sport. having the fans there makes no impact.

What is this nonsense:

quote:

Darlington Raceway 500 kilometers
Charlotte Motor Speedway 500 kilometers

What is this nonsense:
Can still call it the so and so 500, but since they are Wednesday night races they shorten the time it takes to run them. They start at 7:30 and 8:00 eastern respectively, and should be able to be run in a couple of hours.

Also means they can do them with fewer pitstops. Saves on tires, gas, etc.

They are doing everything they can to minimize the number of folks at the track. No practice anywhere, so you don't need crews to tweak on the cars during/after practice. Only the 600 will have qualifying. So no risk of wrecking before the race, so no need for a backup car or the personnel to set up a backup car.

These are going to be one day shows, bring the cars to the track, unload, line up, drop the rag, and go home.

They should let fans go. No way wuhan flu could survive the alcohol, smoke from grills/fireworks/couch fires, exhaust from cars, burnt rubber, STDs, pot, etc... Probably could find a treatment.

It's a start. Sooo, in May it looks like we'll have 2 NASCAR races and that golf match with Tiger, Phil, Brady and Manning.

Not a race fan these day, but glad to see them doing it. I may tune in just to get some kind of live entertainment.

They are running 500 kilometers instead of miles on Wednesdays. So they are basically running xfinity length races on Wednesdays

The track owners and hospitality owners would like a word.
