Tom Brady had a performance for the ages. He completed 28 of 48 passes for 505 yards, with 3 TDs and 0 INTs, while taking only one sack (which, of course, was a strip-sack that ultimately decided the game). That translates to 560 Adjusted Net Yards (giving 20 yards for a touchdown and removing sack yards), which over 49 dropbacks, is 11.43 Adjusted Net Yards per Attempt.
In the regular season, the Eagles defense allowed just 5.10 Adjusted Net Yards per Attempt to opposing quarterbacks. Therefore, Brady was a whopping 6.32 ANY/A above expectation; over the course of 49 dropbacks, it means Brady produced 310 Adjusted Net Yards above expectation.

The beauty of this formula is that it inherently adjusts for both schedule and era. Below are the best passing performances in Super Bowl history. Nobody can match the efficiency over such a high number of passing plays as what Brady did last nigh

Not like they needed this guy on the field either...

According to stats, Malcolm Butler played 97.8% of snaps this year. He had the highest snap count of any Patriots player on defense

Unfortunately, he only completed 59% of his passes which by today's standards is average for QBs I'd probably argue for Phil Simms Super Bowl XXI or Joe Montana Super Bowl XXIV

I’d say 3rd best. Yards are extremely impressive, and despite the fact I don’t like it, he should go down as the greatest NFL QB ever.

But Montana (greatest SB QB ever) went for 297 in 27 or 29 attempts, 5 TDs, 0 INTs vs Denver.

Steve Young threw for over 300 with 6 TDs and 0 INTs vs San Deigo.

Still can't believe Phil Simms actually went 88% passing in the Super Bowl and it's not like he was dinking and dunking passes that game either, I think at one point he completed 10 straight passes transcendent

That was pretty damn amazing too. 10 straight was the record, till Montana did 12 against Denver 3 years later, and I think McNabb either tied or broke that vs NE.

I'm not trying to be a hater, but Foles made much more difficult throws throughout the night. Several of Brady's big completions were to players wide open from busted coverage. He had a very good game, but it wasn't even the best QB performance of the night.

I think Brady had 14 consecutive last year to break it

Wouldn’t surprise me. Can’t count on Atlanta to do anything productive, city or teams.

They lost by 8, not 3. That didn’t decide the game. Philadelphia outplayed them all night.

So even when he loses, he's the GOAT

At age 40, he threw for 500+ yards and 3 TD's against a top-10 defense

Not sure if you heard, but I am not overly concerned with what you think.

If you actually watched the game last night, did you really feel like Brady was playing incredibly?

He had quite a few awful attempts, at least 3 dropped INTs, and more often than not, Patriots were running wide open when he did complete the pass.

I know it sounds blasphemous to suggest a 500 yard performance was pretty mediocre, but it felt that way last night. He was getting a ton of yards through the air, but it didn't seem like he was playing especially well.

This is pretty damn amazing. Dude deserves all sorts of props and respect.

Though a good part of me hopes he gets busted for PED or something.

You're not a hater. He was the MVP after all

Played exceptionally well and I wouldn't argue that Brady had the better game

I agree with this. There was some throws that looked weird too.
