We now live in a day of not saying anything. In 89 Coach Holtz said this to his team but got roasted for it

quote:

They`ve been living a lie all year... They ain`t playing any Kansas State... Frustration will set in on Colorado`s offense... We`re gonna whip ‘em

What other examples can you give where a coach spoke truth like this?

Notre Dame did beat CU (should’ve been twice but a phantom clip call)

I wonder if that (and the Fifth Down Game) were reffed by Georgia fans.

"The Bears are who we thought they were"( opportunistic)

After the Cardinals gave up 6 turnovers & a 20 point lead the Bears who scored no Offensive Tds.

Steve Spurrier. Rings especially true today.

I can give you a great bad example to...

This wasn’t in regards to an opponent but John McKay had a few good quotes while coaching the expansion Tampa Bay Bucs.

When asked “What do you think of your team’s execution coach?” he replied, “I’m in favor of it.”

He also said, “We can’t win at home and we can’t win on the road. What we need is a neutral site.”

That wasn’t his best one about Tennessee

You know why Peyton came back? He wanted to be 3x star of the Citrus Bowl

His best one was about Auburn Fire. It’s a shame that 20 books got destroyed, 15 ain’t been colored yet

Jimmy Johnson to Cowboys players before Super Bowl against Bills: "Listen, Buffalo's good. We're going to have a fight. We're going to have a fight through that first quarter but we'll get them and then they'll start turning the ball over and we'll pour it on."

Bills commit a Super Bowl record nine turnovers and Cowboys win going away 52-17.

Here's another famous Jimmy Johnson quote. Before the 1993 NFC Championship Game against the 49ers, he said" “We will win the ballgame, and you can put it in three-inch headlines. We will win the ballgame.”

Cowboys end up beating the 49ers 38-21 in the NFC Championship Game. Funny enough though, his boast ended up only being a half-inch headline in the papers because the Whitewater investigation began on the same day.

“I find a lot of the things they do amusing. They need to check themselves sometimes. Let’s just remember, pride comes before the fall. ... They want to mock us, I’m telling them, it’s not over. They want to print that crap all over their locker room, it’s not over and it’ll never be over here. It’s just starting. ... I’m very proud of our football team, and I’m very proud of the way our football team handled themselves after the game as well. You don’t have to disrespect people. If they want to make a mockery of it, so be it. Their time will come.”

I thought "Yaw yaw yaw yaw yaw!! Geaux Tigers!!" was an exceptionally moving and truthful speech that I heard earlier this year.

Another great McKay quip after they beat the Saints in 1977:

quote:

"Three or four plane crashes and we're in the playoffs."
