Most intimidating Righty and Lefty Starter and Closers?
Since Spring Training games start this weekend who are the most intimidating pitchers in your opinion?
Not looking for the best but who was the most intimidating to face.

Righty Bob Gibson
Lefty Randy Johnson
Closer Lee Smith

Any lefty throwing that hard and wild would get some mention probably. It’s amazinh how Wohlers Rocker and Lightenberg all just had flash careers

Most intimidated right-handed pitcher is Nolan Ryan hands down. The most intimidating closer ever was probably Eric Gagne at his peak.

I'll go with Righty: Ryan, Lefty: Johnson

Johnson making John Kruk give up during the All-Star Game was funny.

But I'm no expert.

Bugs Bunny with the honorable mention. He can strikeout the side with one pitch. Not bad.

No way on Ryan. If Richard doesn’t have the stroke Ryan isn’t even most intimidating on his own team. Gibson was downright mean

Drysdale May have been meaner and more intimidating than Ryan.

Oh hell, none of the ones I mentioned were closers.

Nevermind, I give up.

I know Ryan was a badass but I don't see how it could be anyone but Gibson

Gibson said in his autobiography that he had 9 pitches: 2 different fastballs, 2 sliders, a curve, a change-up, knockdown, brushback, and a hit-batsman

I went to a Giants/Mets game once during Barry Bonds' last season. His body had broken down, either from the roids, or just from being old. So Barry didn't play day games after night games.

This was a weekday afternoon game after a night game. Barry isn't playing. Hugely disappointing to me as a Giants fan. I bought the ticket to see Barry. The team was mediocre that year.

So, anyway, Giants are down three runs in the bottom of the 9th. I'm thinking to myself, "If we get two guys on, Barry is coming in to pinch hit".

They somehow get two guys on, and Barry strolls out of the dugout. The crowd loses its mind. He's still facing Billy Wagner, though. Fireballin lefty. No way old man Bonds takes Billy Wagner deep.

Bonds takes him deep. Crowd is in awe. High-fiving, hugging each other, all that shite.

Inning ends, Bonds comes back out to play left field. All of us in the crowd are doing that "We are not worthy!" bow at him as he jogs into left field.

Anyway, the Giants lost that game, but I remembered one thing from that day:

I will never again, as long as I live, see a player as amazing, unifying (for Giants fans), and talented as Barry Bonds.

Hate as you must, but he made me enjoy baseball.

Righty - Verlander - PRIME....like when he'd start the game at 95 and would hit 100+ in the 7th. He was something else and still is a beast when he's rolling well.

Lefty - Johnson

Closer - Chapman - I've never seen a dominant closer be passed over because it's drizzling and the manager is legit worried about a guy's control with a wet ball because he may kill someone.

Roids or not, idgaf.....he was and will end up being the best player of this century. Trout is great, but he isn't Barry.

Barry stats.....I'm sure this can go on forever.

If you turned all of Barry's singles into outs, his OPS would be .737, higher than HOF's Phil Rizzuto and Brooks Robinson.

From August 2000 to April 2006, Barry didn't have a month with a single OPS under 1.000

Had six seasons with an wRC+ over 180, including four straight (01-04) over 210.

Verlander doesn't get enough credit. Dude threw 100+ on his 120th pitch in a perfect game.

Chapman is the definition of closer. 105 from the left side ? frick you. I'll go sit down.
