Since 2010, Romo’s Total QBR in the first 12 minutes of the fourth quarter/OT is 80. That’s second-best in the NFL behind Peyton Manning. However, his QBR drops to a below-average 44 in the game’s final three minutes.

Cowboys Record by month with Romo as starter:
-- September - November = 60-34
-- December - January = 15-21

Cowboys Record in the last 3 weeks of the season with Romo as QB and record going into final 3 weeks:
--2006- 1-2 final 3 weeks; 8-5 going into wk14. Finished 9-7. Made playoffs

--2007- 1-2 final 3; Finished 13-3. Made playoffs

--2008- 1-2 final 3(1-3 in final 4); 8-5 at wk14 (8-4 wk 13). Finished 9-7. Missed playoffs

--2009- 3-0. Made playoffs

-- 2010- Hurt

--2011- 1-2 final 3 (1-4 final 5);7-6 at wk14 (7-4 wk 12). Finish 8-8. Miss playoffs

--2012- 1-2 final 3; 7-6 at wk14. Finished 8-8. Miss playoffs

--2013- 1-2 final 3; 7-6 at wk14. Finish 8-8. Miss playoffs.

-- Career Record final 3 weeks- 9-12 (9-15 including final 4 of 2008 and 5 of 2011).

Romo has only had 1 season as a starter where he had a winning record in the final 3 weeks of the season, which is crunch time. And every year, the Cowboys are above .500 with just 3 games to play, but they choke it away and typically miss the playoffs. They have missed the post season 3 years in a row now, made it once in the last 5 seasons (2009), and they had a winning record with just 3 games to play. And choked it away.

Dont really care how many game winning drives he has and all that. When its a meaningful game late in the season and its in the final few minutes, Romo chokes. Sure, he has good stats. But those stats are hollow. They are good looking stats. But they dont equal wins. Hes an above average QB though. And is capable of playing at an extremely high level for the first 55 minutes of the game. But in the final minutes of the game, he blows.

The obsession here with Romo is laughable.

He isn't am elite QB, does anyone think that? They shouldn't.

But he is far and away the best option the Cowboys have had since the final few years of Aikman. The NFL isn't a league where you can just give away a good QB. There is no guarantee you'll get a great one in the next 10 years.

Tony Romo averages 26 TDs and nearly 3,700 passing yards each season. You don't put up those numbers without being a good quarterback.

I would, however, place him outside of the elite category. Not a knock on him, but there are very few quarterbacks I would place in the category of elite (Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady).

I think the three quarterbacks with the best shot to eventually be in the elite category are Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson, and Matthew Stafford.

As long as the Colts keep trying the stupid arse offense we saw last year, Luck ought to run away with this in due time.

Coincidentally, that may be the only wins they have over the last three years.

Out of that group, today, I'd take Flacco.
