Beyond 40 yards, the offensive team shall have the option of attempting a forward pass through the uprights. The defense may intercept, or return a ball that hits the ground. In all other respects it is a regular scrimmage play. Would add a little more excitement and strategy, especially for a team with a strong armed QB.

Pretty much any NFL quarterback can easily throw a ball that far

Every single QB in the NFL can throw a 40 yard pass through the uprights with ease

The goalposts are in the back of the endzone, the crossbar is 10 feet off the ground and he'd be 8-10 yards behind the LOS. A 40 yard FG would be throwing about 70 yards with accuracy while under pressure.

there'd be about 5-8 teams that would just need to get to like their own 40 yard line to be able to win fg type game off of a pathetic qb heave.

You're just looking for ways to get Jamarcus Russell back in the league?

A 40 yard FG attempt's LOS would be the 23 yard line...

If you mean a FG attempt with the 40 as the LOS, it's a 57 yarder. You don't think it's easy as frick for an NFL QB to throw a ball through the uprights from 57?

But a 40 yard field goal means the ball is on the 23 yard line.....

Are you under the impression that a “40 yard field goal” doesn’t account for the end zone yardage?

You'd think after 63,299 post that you'd be better than this...but nope; this is the dumbest thing I've seen on the MSB and that's saying something.

Hang a tire between the uprights, then maybe we can talk. Otherwise, no.
