i wonder if yankees will look to include sonny gray in a deal. he's sucked this season, but he's got 2-3 years of control left and he's been all-star caliber before. maybe new york is just too much for him.

he's got to be worth something as an asset.

he's only 28.

andujar, adams, gray, and another prospect? i don't think that's a bad offer for a rental at all. you might not be far off from getting britton too at that point.

then you still have frazier, florial, etc. to use to trade for a starting pitcher.

No way they deal Gray. They have too many pitching prospects to use as collateral

I'm still not big on Machado, yes he is an improvement over Andujar but not as big an impact as a player like DeGrom would be for a similar cost

Send Gray to the Braves for a young pitcher in AA or something

gray has been terrible in new york. if a team sees him as a good asset, i don't think they'd hesitate too much to move him.

orioles are said to be in the market for starting pitching. not sure if that means strictly prospects or what.

i mean they can go after both. they have the prospects.

and machado's lack of strike outs would be very attractive to me if i'm the yankees.

if you stack judge, stanton, sanchez in a row in a lineup, power relief pitching in the playoffs will eat their lunch.

They need MLB pitching & the market is quite dry. Trading him makes no sense even if it’s for a pitcher

With the way the bullpen is set up in a perfect world you need 6ip out of your starter, would settle with 5.

You add Machado & that margin widens a little.

I do think they will look to add a low level starter. Maybe someone like Colon or Ian Kennedy

Angels can't catch a break
quote:

The Angels announced tonight that an MRI performed on right-hander Garrett Richards has revealed damage to the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. Unlike the case of Shohei Ohtani, the Angels added that Richards has already been presented with “both conservative care and surgical options to treat the injury.” Richards, it seems, is mulling those options. The Angels added that they’ll provide an update on his treatment plan “when appropriate.”

This one is finally over. #orioles lose 9-0. 9th time shut out this season. 25th time held to 1 run or fewer. Now 26-67 overall 14-31 at home. Don't expect Manny to be traded while showering, but all bets are off during his walk to the car

#Orioles remain in talks on Machado, sources tell The Athletic. #Yankees’ interest described as “serious” - @JonHeyman reported strong offer by NYY. #Dodgers, #Brewers also serious, while #DBacks, #Phillies staying in touch; PHI contact reported earlier by @JimBowdenGM.

Manny Machado made it through batting practice, the anthem and the game without a trade. He’s still an Oriole as they shower, dress and head home.
The Yankees have made an offer for Machado, but it doesn’t include prized left-hander Justus Sheffield, according to a source. MLB.com ranks Sheffield as the organization’s No. 2 prospect, while Baseball America puts him at No. 3.
The Orioles would love to put him in their rotation, but they’re not getting him for a Machado rental.
They are known to like outfielder Clint Frazier and third baseman Miguel Andújar, but at least one top pitching prospect is necessary in any deal.
