The Orioles want right-hander Corbin Burnes as the centerpiece in any Machado trade with the Milwaukee Brewers, and High A infielder Gavin Lux as the key prospect from the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to major-league sources.

quote:

Both teams are balking at including those players, sources say. The Brewers would prefer to build their package around Triple A outfielder Brett Phillips and Double A right-hander Luis Ortiz, according to one source. The Dodgers, unwilling to part with Lux or another Orioles target, High A right-hander Dustin May, are pursuing other veteran infielders, as first reported by Yahoo’s Jeff Passan, while remaining in the mix for Machado.
quote:

Sources told The Athletic on Sunday that the Brewers and Dodgers were the most serious suitors for Machado. The New York Yankees showed increased interest on Monday, and other teams also remain involved. It is in the Orioles’ interest to act sooner rather than later — Machado’s value as a rental diminishes with each day he remains in a Baltimore uniform.
quote:

The Yankees’ exact intentions in the Machado talks remain unclear. General manager Brian Cashman declined comment when asked about his interest on Monday, and did not answer specific questions about a possible trade from Joel Sherman of the New York Post on Tuesday. Cashman, however, told Sherman, “My job is to attack weakness” and said his biggest priority was upgrading the Yankees’ rotation.

Machado will be a Dodger IMO.

They have the farm to trade, money to pay in FA, and the versatility to accommodate him. Not to mention the whole "living in Los Angeles" thing.

The only question will be what happens when Seager comes back, since Machado really wants to play SS.

Machado to Philadelphia as they give up Crawford and Franco plus prospects

Philly would be smart to get him. They've done a nice job of building that farm and they've been desperate for star power for a few years.

It’s inevitable

I’d move Seager to 2B. Haven’t gotten anything from that position this year.

We are three weeks away.

Seems like an appropriate time to start this thread.

i honestly dont see a fit long term for machado. if anyone moves to second, it would be turner and i dont think he will do well there. seager is too good at short to be moved off and machado is too good at third base to be moved

Maybe when the dumbass Orioles come down on their asking price for a star that will 100% leave after the season.

Turner’s knees wouldn’t hold up at 2B. I want Machado so badly. Do whatever it takes to get him.

I really want the Yankees to land Archer, his price is kinda low and he has all the potential in the world. Would be a nice buy low candidate. Maybe a package centered around Adams

Machado to Arizona. He can play SS and make a JD like impact from last season. They need another big bat.

I think you and I talked about just that a few months back and I said he's a guy I think they should pursue over JA Happ. The numbers haven't really matched his stuff for a while but he strikes me as the kind of guy that could feast on the intensity of a playoff race/playoff games.

The question is do the Rays want to sell low? He's got 2 more seasons of control. The value by way of his control is diminishing the longer they hold on to him but it could also rebound if he returns to pitching at an ace level between now and 2020.

I know the price is through the roof, but the Yankees need to just pay the price if the Mets are serious about moving one of Thor or DeGrom.
